J Gough's Tavern fits the "tavern" concept, but I think it could be a bit "warmer" in terms of atmosphere and decor. The drinks are good enough, and there's a selection of fine whiskey (and whisky), but the mood is more "bar" than "tavern," which would evoke more of a retro feel.

Was very disappointed in the meat lover's Flatbread. It tasted like tomato paste for the sauce and the meat has no flavor. It was plain. I suggest to anyone don't get it. My fiancée had thier Italian hoagie which he felt bad and gave me half of his sandwich to eat. The bartender did ask if I liked it. I did let him know about the pizza not being too good. He just looked and didn't say anything and walked away. I'll still come here. But that flat bread has to go. I don't even see how that one is on the menu! Everything else so far I tasted from there is good.

This is a hidden gem for those of you who enjoy a good scotch/bourbon. I don't feel like this is the place I would bring a bunch of friends to hangout with but is the place where I would come with a friend or my wife just to chat, enjoy a good drink and enjoy their great smoked wings (no dressing needed great)

Happened to stop in for drinks and a bite on the same evening that there was Irish style open mic. Very enjoyable with a great Irish vibe all around. I did notice there were no Irish food items on the menu. Wings were served reheated which made them rubbery but all other food items were very good and served promptly. Good service all around. Ladies room was nicely updated.
Best bourbon and scotch selection and they aren't ridiculously overpriced. Great food and good vibes.

Decided to go out to eat with my siblings, and this place peeked my interest. The food was outstanding and the service was great! I love the tone of the restaurant, I will be back when I’m of age to drink! My brother’s fiance had a drink and she loved it! Thanks for the great experience!

If you love whiskey from here or across the pond, you will find something to your taste. The helpful bartenders can steer you in the right direction if you don't know what to order. Decent prices too. A nice chill atmosphere to enjoy your drink as well
