Ka Mei is the only place in Pittsburgh that serves the greatest Chinese comfort food around -- congee. It serves about 2 hungry people so the price may seem high but it is completely worth it. Authentic HK/Cantonese-style Chinese food (hot tea served in a pot!) and the owners are wonderful! When the quarantine is over and the world is healthy, Ka Mei is the first place I'm heading!
I'm a serious fan of authentic Hong Kong cuisine and Ka Mai's is reasonably scored a 4 out of 5 stars on that front. Their shrimp wonton noodle soup for example was good but not great and seemed to have chopped shrimp rather than crispy whole small shrimp. The noodles were in a ball, indicating that they had been pre-cooked and dropped into the soup before serving; it took a fair amount of poking at the ball to get it to loosen in the hot soup. I love this place. It serves excellent authentic Hong Kong food. Many of the clientele are from Hong Kong or Guanzhou. Try the Bronzini fish - my favorite - but everything is good. Delicious.
