Food service was rapid. Our appetizer arrived with our entrees, though. The appetizer was not good: queso fundido. Chips were stale, and the cheese was extremely oily. We were really there for fried chicken night and that did not disappoint.
This was our first time at Kaya. We arrived early during happy hour, at 4:30. The restaurant was basically empty. One man at the bar and the four of us. The noise level from the “music” was very annoying. It was so loud that we asked if we could move to the rear of the restaurant where we had hoped it would be somewhat quieter. The wait staff moved us. It was but still so loud there that we had a hard time talking. We asked if they could lower the volume which they did a smidge....
Overall, the food has been and continues to be excellent. I will continue to dine there. However this was the first time I can say that my service was less than stellar. The server was prompt in taking the beverage and food order. We ordered a second drink, and it never came and was never ordered on the bill. I asked for our check after we finished and had to ask again over 30 minutes later. The sever had passed us several times without any acknowledgment.
