This is a great find! Their food is fresh and flavorful, and portions are sizable. Would recommend the sticky rice salad to start. Also loved the bright, cheerful decor and atmosphere.

Unbelievably good food at affordable, on-a-whim prices with a view to boot!

Good amount of options for vegan dishes, including several dishes that are exclusively vegan. I highly recommend curry puffs and eggplant tofu. Best vegan Asian food in squirrel hill imo Updated from previous review on 2025-05-25

From the moment we stepped into Kiin Lao & Thai Eatery, we knew we were in for something special. This family-owned gem delivers an authentic Lao and Thai culinary experience that’s both comforting and exciting.

We ordered a diverse spread and every single dish was a standout:

• Red Curry with Beef: Rich, perfectly spiced, and deeply flavorful. The beef was tender and soaked up the velvety coconut-based curry beautifully. It had just the right heat and complexity.

• Green Curry with Tofu: A lighter, herbaceous option that still packed a ton of flavor. The tofu was cooked to perfection—crispy on the outside, soft inside—and the broth was fragrant and soul-warming.

• Crispy Brussels Sprouts: These were addictively good. Charred just right, tossed with a savory glaze that brought a sweet, tangy, and umami punch. A must-order.

• Pad Thai: Classic, well-balanced, and not overly sweet like some places. Noodles had a great chew, and the dish was full of fresh veggies, peanuts, and lime.

• Curry Puffs: Flaky, golden pastry with a deliciously seasoned filling. A fantastic appetizer to start the meal.

The service was warm, attentive, and full of pride in the food they serve. The space is stylish yet welcoming, perfect for families or date night. We left full, happy, and already planning our return.

Kiin Lao& Thai Eatery isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience. Five stars, without hesitation

The atmosphere and decorations were very delicate and nice. Food is also very nice, I had the pork shoulder and the meat was tender and juicy, the seasoning on other dishes were also very flavorful yet on point. I also love the murals and the color choice of the furniture. Overall, a really nice place to sit and eat while it’s raining outside 🥰

Food is good, but it is Way too expensive. 22 dollars for one small fish fillet and that’s basically it. We ordered 2 dishes for 2 people, both of us are only half full.

Section for Lao mains which were different. Clearly marked which dishes could be made vegan. Nice atmosphere. The food was delicious!

I first came to Kiin because my friend worked there. However, after experiencing the beauties of Thai food, I can’t stop coming back. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is absolutely heavenly.

Food is good, but even though they take forever to serve one person (I went alone, and it took a long time to get served, AND to get my food), if you don't tip OR tip satisfactorily, they will chase you out the door and force you to tip. I'll never go back.

One of the best Thai foods in Pittsburgh! However, it is a little more on the expensive side. The food is pretty good you can pick your own spice level. I recommend the curry puffs! Very delicious.

Amazing little find! The view was fantastic and the food was soo good! Good portions and delicious. You definitely need to like fish sauce (which I do), but it is delicious and unique for Pittsburgh.
