My coworkers and I got lunch here. I believe we got there right when it opened as no one was inside and the cook looked to be finishing up a to go/pick up order. I ordered their mexicano burrito. This was pretty big linda reminiscent of chipotle but obviously much better. It came out pretty quickly too which was nice as we were under a bit of a time crunch.

A new favorite. The wife and I got put on to this place by the kids. Everything here is freshly made and you can see them making everything right there. Burritos and tacos are great and the Fries and Cheese are the best ??Parking: Usually plenty of street parking but you may have to go up, down and around due to all the various one way streets.

Has 3 tacos and some fries, I've spent over 10 hours in the bathroom. So they not clean their grill on a Friday afternoon? Never going

OMG!!! This guacamole feeds my soul! Perfectly ripe, hand scooped avocado mashed with chunks of aldente roasted pepper, onion, just enough spice, even a few chunks of unmashed avocado.Perfection!

As a preface, I've lived in Los Angeles for over 20 years before I moved to Pittsburgh, so I have a lot of experience with Mexican-American food and taquerias. First, for their guacamole. It's creamy (not chunky), I prefer mine a little more limey. Doce is more chunky if you prefer that. It's typical guac, 3 stars. If you want amazing 5-star guac then you need it made in a molcajete somewhere (which normally costs more than an entire lunch at La Bodega). They offer two salsas, one that's tomato-based with basically zero spice (more watery) and a chile-based one in a squeeze bottle which is a little more spicy (also thicker). I prefer the tomato-based salsa for my tacos and the chile-based salsa for my chips, but you do you. 4 stars for salsas, as both options are good pairings. The salsas here aren't as spicy as you would get at somewhere like Las Palmas, but these are more approachable to the majority of people. They don't have an avacado-salsa here from what I could see. Their tortilla chips are the same as you would get at any other restaurant in Pittsburgh. They don't compare to what you could get in LA (normally fried in lard), but I haven't found anywhere here that makes them that way. 3 stars for chips, nothing special. I don't think they are fried to order either, which would push them to 4 stars if they were. Their tacos; this is the part that matters. Get them mexi style with corn tortillas for a more authentic experience. The meat is savory, grilled, juicy, spiced, well-seasoned, very flavorful, the best I've had in Pittsburgh. I've tried their pollo and carnitas tacos, and they both are great. The toppings are simple (if you get them mexi style). Doce has more interesting toppings but I like the meat and simplicity more at La Bodega. I even prefer their meat over Las Palmas. 5 stars, these are the best I've had here overall. Their churros are crunchy on the outside, coated in cinnamon sugar, soft on the inside, they're basically perfect, some places fry them too long and they can break a tooth when you bite into them, but these are great. They include a dulce de leche sauce which is a rich creamy pairing. These are also 5 stars, the best I've had here. The interior if the restaurant is rather large for the space, with a number of long tables, and two round 4-seat tables. The restaurant is quick service (also called "fast casual") where you order at a counter, then pick up the food after your order is ready. The food was done within 5 minutes of ordering with no line, nothing to complain about in terms of service. I've tried La Palapa, Doce, Las Palmas, Condado, Tasty Taquitos and Emilianos, and would recommend La Bodega over those options. The only other competing restaurant in my mind is tako downtown (which is mexican-american-asian fusion restaurant and much more expensive, not really in the same space as a traditional Mexican taqueria). The prices are great too, a big lunch for around $12, I will definitely be coming back. I was debating between making this a 4 and 5 star restaurant. It is so underrated and I believe it is in the top 2-5% of Mexican restaurants here. I can't overstate how much better this place is than other popular options in the city. If I find somewhere better I will be updating this review to reflect that, which may mean this restaurant goes down to 4 stars (as I grade on a bell curve, the majority of restaurants get 2-4 stars from me, and only the top restaurants in the city receive 5 stars).

I have no idea how this joint has high ratings. I order delivery so this is on the food specifically. The corn tortillas are pretty horrendous, I thought there was something wrong with it, like plastic was pressed against it and burned. The barbacoa meat, was inedible as well, and dry, the flavor was suspicious at best. The Mexican burrito was mostly just a little spice flavored but couldn't distinguish anything else. Well, you get my point, do with it what you will. =)

The best tacos in the city! I recommend mexi way for a fresh clean flavor. Everyone I have taken there has made it their favorite taco spot.

Amazing food. Grungy seating area. No service like a fast food restaurant. The food was so good and well priced.

I really enjoyed this place. It's a fairly small operation with a couple of hard-working guys behind the counter serving up some pretty good tacos. They offer several different salsas and sides, and every last one of them was exactly aligned with the flavor profile I would expect. The salsa roja and salsa verde were well balanced, and the ranchero sauce was a nice option to have. All of them were both distinct and flavorful. The tacos themselves come in both "Mexi-" and "Ameri-" styles, with the American style getting some different/extra toppings (lettuce, pico, crema, etc.). Both styles were good, depending on what you're looking for. I highly recommend loading up either with one of their salsas. As a minor tip for the vegetarian tacos, I would recommend ordering the tacos without any rice. The tacos don't really need the rice: they already have a tortilla.

If you know, you know. Best tacos in the burgh, if you've never had them mexi way (just like, radish and cilantro) I implore you to try it. Everything here is fantastic but carnitas or carne asada tacos mexi way on corn tortilla is my standard order. It's not overpriced either..You can get a taco box with 2 tacos, churros, and a generous portion of chips and salsa for about the same price as a taco bell combo meal. Oh, and the birria is very good too, some of the best broth in town. That alone makes them a winner but on top of being delicious and affordable, they're on point. Both in person and through delivery apps I'm always amazed by how quick and accurate the service is. I've been eating here or getting it delivered at least once a week for the past few months and they've literally never made a mistake or forgotten something. I can't say enough good things about this place, just try it.Parking: It's the south side. You're usually fine but rush hour and events it can be a challenge to find somewhere to park.

Who would’ve thought that the best tacos are in the south side of Pittsburgh?? I make it a point to come here every time I’m in the city. Wish they had a strawberry Fresca though!
