Excellent staff and service. The menu is solid. Not too big. Great arancini in sauce! Had a Caesars salad with a very generous portion of salmon. The wait staff was attentive. Made good decaf coffee. Finished off with a specialty cannoli with hazelnut. An enjoyable experience.
Very nice atmosphere. Food was good . Asked if we could have a spice to put in the olive oil & was told we don't serve that side table. I've never gone to an Italian restaurant before & asked for something like oregano to add to olive oil for dipping bread & couldn't get it.
We used the Groupon. What a great value for wonderful food, service, wine and ambiance. We will definitely go again.
Lovely setting (on patio), delicious food (salmon) and excellent service. Very happy and look forward to returning. Thanks!
Luca used to be a wonderful bustling Italian restaurant in Oakland - haven't been for a few years and wow things have changed. Short staffed. Food was very mediocre and hardly anyone there. It's a shame that the quality has declined so. Won't be back. Wouldn't be surprised if they close.
Went there for lunch. My husband and I sat on the beautiful patio and had a delicious lunch and amazing service from our waitress amber.

Tasty lunch, food was clearly handmade and house salad was especially delicious.

Great food good value. Interesting cocktails for a reasonable if not low price compared to others.
We haven't eaten here in ages and were surprised at how good the food was. I started with a Sparkling Lemoncello. So delicious. The gnocchi were fabulous, as were the meatballs and chicken parm. Caesar salad was just okay. We were originally sat at a very small table in the bar (last minute reservation, and the place was packed) but moved to the bar to be more comfortable. We will definitely go back soon.

Food was decent not great. Waiter emphasized cooks take pride in menu so no special requests. Not sure if that's it or just more efficient in kitchen. No salt or pepper on tables, so maybe it was a true statement. Some of the food needed seasoning though. The spinach salad was very good. The outside patio seems like a lovely spot with good weather, but had a private party that night. Inside was a bit warm and the outside had been in 70s all day. Not sure how it would have been on a warmer day. Some of the chairs sat too low for the table, so a bit awkward. I would still go again if I wanted Italian and was in that area. I would ask for salt and pepper next time regardless of the cook's pride.
The apps were good. The service was great for our big group but the food was subpar and two of the meals we had to ask to be taken off the bill bc of them tasting sour. I normally do not write reviews but for the amount of money spent, we were hoping for a good, Italian meal — we were disappointed.
Lucca got cited for another health code violation. It used to be my place to dine but giving a second thought since the previous owner sold Lucca. What a shame.

Went to Lucca's for dinner at 7 pm on a Friday night. I was seated promptly.
Patio table was nice and ambiance was inviting.
I ordered the meatball app. It was disappointing as it was slightly unseasoned but worse it wasn't fresh. You could tell this was a previously cooked and reheated meatball by the texture.
The chicken parmesean dinner arrived with a sizable piece of heavily baked chicken sitting on top of a bed of linguini and marinara sauce. It made cutting into the chicken a little awkward sitting on top of the pasta so I had to move the carbs around on the plate to make room.
Also, just like the meatballs, the chicken was slightly under-seasoned. I hunted down a salt shaker in the restaurant and after a few shakes the chicken Parm was delicious. It just needed a little accent seasoning and I throughly enjoyed it.
Another person in our party ordered gnocchi and meatball dinner. It was a sizable portion. After adding salt to their Meatballs they said their dish went from a 5.0 to an 8.0!
I tried a side of bolognese sauce with my dinner and dipped some bread in it and it was absolutely delicious. The combination of pork, beef and lamb stewed in the sauce was very good.
I was told by the server they use the same combination of meat in the Meatballs. Too bad my app wasn't fresher as I can imagine how good it would've been.
Value: a dinner for two with two cocktails, one app and two entrees came to $100.
Overall a good dining experience. I probably would return and next time I won't be shy to ask for table salt.
