Truly the best meal I’ve had in awhile, but our waitress Gwendolyn made it a very unpleasant experience. We had a reservation and she refused to serve alcohol to my friend because there was a small bubble in her license, yet no one has ever given her issues about this before. Clearly it was a valid ID, and we were all obviously well over the age of 21. She then checks my ID and starts lecturing me because it was days away from expiring… it was so unnecessary. The only thing that kept us at the table was the food which was amazing. But seriously, worst service I’ve ever had. I really just wanted to eat my seafood in peace. I feel like she would be better off working at the DMV.

Please avoid this restaurant at all costs. We came here for my friend’s birthday celebration tonight. Our server was a total nightmare and completely ruined our, what was supposed to be fun, experience.

I am more than old enough to order an alcoholic beverage. She told me she couldn’t accept my ID to get a drink and asked if I had my passport. In what world would I bring my passport to dinner?

This restaurant needs to get rid of this server. Coming from serving experience, you should want to sell as much as possible. I can tell you right now she’s hurting the restaurant’s profits with her horrible, nasty attitude.

Luke Wholey’s Wild Alaskan Grille, do better.

To anyone reading this: go across the street for a more enjoyable experience than this.

Service was good. Food mediocre at best. Highly overpriced. Salmon dry and overcooked. English style cod came out cold then when sent back they just reheated. No flavor at all. So many better seafood restaurants for the price. Safe your money go elsewhere.

Fried Oysters were wonderful. Fish and Chips and Crab legs were definitely good, but just as good as other local seafood restaurants. Crab stuffed sockeye salmon was OK, a bit dried out. I'd definitely try this place again

Our 1st time there. Wasn't impressed with restaurant week selection. We're going to give it another chance.

Extremely disappointed. Went with another couple for restaurant week. Two of us ordered from the special menu. The seafood nachos had almost zero seafood. 2 tiny pieces of lobster, zero shrimp and a small amount of non lump crab. I specifically asked the waitress if there was a decent amount of seafood and was told yes. The answer should have been no. Not even a lot of the corn salsa. The other dishes were ok at best.

I went there a while ago and I brought a Soda and the waitress added a 5.00 tip that I didn't give her. Restaurant was not very helpful in recovering my 5.00. I will never go there again, thieves on payroll.

I always stop at Wholey's when I visit Pittsburgh. Outstanding bloody Mary.

The food and seafood tend to be very high quality.

One off issue that's not their fault:
My cousin and I both got sick and tested positive for norovirus (12/2024) after eating raw west coast oysters. There was a unknown norovirus outbreak at the time and it was mentioned in the news a week of so after we both recovered. It's not Wholey's fault but we were sick as hell for a full 7 days from oysters.

We ordered 1 dozen oysters (assorted), which were great, but somehow costs more than an order of a snow crab entree. We weren’t entirely pleased about that. The crab was overcooked and comes with no sides, which I think is overpriced at $38 per meal (market price). We also got an additional paid side of Mac n cheese and lemon garlic broccoli; broccoli was good, the Mac n cheese was very bland and something you could get from a grocery store. The shrimp po boy is fantastic though.

he food was great, and the service was above and beyond! Miah (or mya?) our server was so SO welcoming to all of us, especially to my parents, who were visiting from out of town. Plenty of suggestions, and she knew the menu very well. Her energy really set the vibe, and we all had a great time here! Definitely would recommend.

🌟 A Sushi Delight in Downtown Pittsburgh! 🌟 If you’re a sushi lover, you absolutely must try the Spider Roll at Luke Wholey’s Wild Alaskan Grille. This incredible roll is a symphony of textures and flavors that will leave your taste buds dancing with joy. Imagine biting into a perfectly crispy USDA soft shell crab, complemented by the fresh crunch of asparagus and cucumber, the creamy richness of avocado, and the delightful pop of masago. This roll is huge and too big for our chopstick skills, so we used our fingers! Each piece is generously topped with a luscious combination of eel sauce, spicy sauce, and a sprinkle of scallions, adding a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and spicy notes. For just $19, you get 10 pieces of this culinary masterpiece, making it not only a delicious treat but also a fantastic value. Whether you’re a sushi aficionado or just looking to try something new, the Spider Roll at Luke Wholey’s is a must-try experience in the heart of Pittsburgh. 🍣✨

I got a lobster roll with lobster bisque, it was ok. The lobster bisque was flavorless. I wouldn't get it again.
