Had to try this out. Raised in South Florida where you can find an empanada for under 3$ just about anywhere. Won’t catch me back here. 6$ for an empanada that doesn’t even come with aji—the definition of gentrified food for gentrifies.
I really enjoyed my experience here. The empanadas are truly first rate and the staff is lovely — and passionate about providing authentic empanadas here in the central Lawrenceville business district. I visited on a day with a blast of unexpected winter weather and bless them, they were still here serving up food to the many locals stopping through looking for something to eat in the storm. It’s clear that although I hadn’t been here before, in this neighborhood it’s not a secret how good this spot is.
There is a large variety of empanadas available, from meat-based fillings like brisket and chorizo to many vegetarian options like my favorite selection, the cheese and onion, sweet potato and black bean, and even several sweet options such as apples and walnut and peaches and cream. Everything is clearly labeled for dietary needs and potential allergies such as nuts.
Frozen empanadas are available to take home and heat, although I took five from the case home (after eating one here) to heat over several days and they held up very well. They are large and filling. There is a very small amount of seating here, for just a few people at a time, as this is mostly a takeout spot. A local gem.

Lindsey was exceedingly helpful filling a last minute order of 20 empanadas. Usually I order a couple from here now and again and I'm never disappointed. Love them!

Wow. These empanadas are massive and the sauces are really good! I had to grab a bunch before my 4 hour drive home! This is a great place to get a quick bite to dine in or to go!

I had takeout order of 5 bags. I received 1 bag only. Associate wasn't sure if all orders were combined in one bag & I'm not sure either as this was my 1st time visit w the restaurant's pre-packaged surprise meal bag program.

The empanadas are cold, and for $5.50 for each one you'd expect them to at least have some in it, they dont.

Mi Empanada sells Argentinian empanadas, sandwiches, and sides. The empanadas are available in several meat and non-meat flavors. I bought a lamb empanada. It was a large size, and its crust and meat tasted good.

I don't know if something has changed but lately any time I get the chicken, it legitimately taste like someone used soap in the filling.
A must have. Nothing like it - besides my fiancées mom’s empanadas!! We bring everyone that visits Pittsburgh here because this is one of the top food sources here. Please never change!

As an Argentinean, I can tell you these empanadas are awesome! Filling is seasoned well, shell is crispy and flaky. All you need. Top Pittsburgh restaurants no doubt.

Incredible empanadas! Perfect for lunch or a light dinner! I highly recommend the beef chorizo (pork free) which is a unique joy for someone who doesn’t eat pork.
