Took over an hour and a half for food.
Turns out the food was taken to another table and they never thought to put our order back in and kept reinforcing the fact that our food was almost done!
They then came back to the table to verify what we ordered… But 15 minutes later they bring one of the right plates but the other is incorrect. So they go to get the correct plates, and it’s WRONG AGAIN!
Finally after 30 minutes of my plate sitting on the table while I wait for my partners plate to come they finally got the right plate to us.
After the long wait, it turns out it wasn’t even close to worth waiting, the food was horrible. Both plates were cold and the burger was severely undercooked to the point where it was a mushy texture.
They’re getting 1 star simply because the drinks made it to the table.
Unfortunate they couldn’t live up to the Mindful standards.
Waited an hour and a half to not be seated. Cannot recommend to a friend.
Two out of four of us got there at six o’clock. The hostess was absolutely amazing. Sweet and accommodating. Ordered drinks from the bar while we waited for an outdoor table. Bartender was busy and seemed a bit overwhelmed and not super friendly but they were making a lot of drinks for the waitstaff so I get it. We got seated at 6:20. Sat unattended for 15 minutes until I went back in and talked again to the hostess. She found us a server (Stephanie) who was awesome. The server who was originally assigned our table made eye contact but never even approached us. We had two Italian hoagies, burger, pulled pork Sammie and wings. The food was killer.
$20 Mediterranean bowl was very small, didn't fill me up. No pita bread or anything on the side. It tasted decent but somewhat bland. My wife got the crispy bowl with cauliflower which was also small and undercooked. There was an unexpected surcharge which really hurts the wait staff, because instead of leaving a 20% tip, I subtracted the surcharge from the tip. As a customer, I'm certainly not eating that additional cost. Deceptive practice. Overpriced food for the small portions you get. Won't be returning
Would not come back
Very glad they've opened! We had a couple sandwiches and they were huge and very tasty. The fried cauliflower was also very good. Their beers are as good, if not better, than the Mindful offerings previously; plus a guest tap list.
The outdoor area is very dog and kid friendly.
3% surcharge, bad staff, overpriced food. If that’s your style then you’ll love this place. UPDATE: if I could give zero stars I would. My parents went this week and they both got sick from the food. Their food is HORRIBLE here. Please stay away.
Food needs improvement, especially when charging 24 dollars for a sandwich. The surcharge was unexpected and disappointing. The kolsch beer is good, but besides that no much reason to return yet. Since they are new, I'll probably give it another go in the future. Hopefully, this surcharge is gone, and the food improved.
We had a great meal. We went during the soft opening. Can’t wait to get back.
Mediocre food. Mediocre beer. Overpriced for what you’re getting. And let’s not forget to mention that parking is a nightmare here.
Restaurantji Recommends
Absolutely fabulous food and drink!! Still working out some new restaurant kinks but I can't wait to continue to watch them grow. Anthony was a fabulous server, and both the burger and pizza were very good. And we tried 2 specialty beers and 3 of the specialty cocktails. All were good! Will absolutely be returning, maybe weekly!!!
Imagine opening under new management and they couldn’t even handle 5 days of being open. Cancelling Sunday reservations opening week and opening late on Saturday. If you’re not ready to open, then don’t open! Poor business management!!!! What a joke. We had planned to come with a group Sunday all week for them to announce “they couldn’t handle it” ridiculous.
They also truly replied on their social media “those who are upset about us being closed can be upset” what a nice way to put it to your customer. They then proceed to try to say “that’s not how we meant it” LOL think before you type then.
Rude staff and overpriced. Stay away! Food is awful and I read another review about them writing an unprofessional comment on their social media. I read what they said and it was flat out wrong to tell customers they don’t care if they are upset. Read all the other bad reviews! Disgusting food and apparently bad management. Stealing from their customers with unnecessary surcharges as well.
Drinks were great. The food was god awful. We ordered the trio dip and the guac was so salty you couldn’t even eat it. We also ordered two of their burgers, they were dry no sauces came on the burgers and we waited well over an hour for everything. We sat upstairs and the employees were great and apologized. They need to really revamp the kitchen. ALSO why is there a surcharge for using a debit card of 4%. That is flat out RIDICULOUS. Owner should be ashamed no other businesses locally even consider that. Pretty unethical. “Free money” I suppose. Will not be back will be surprised if this place survives till the summer.
Mindful > Chimera
Previously, my family and I attended mindful almost weekly. The freshness of the food and beer always satisfied. The service was fantastic and the staff were wonderful people. We were very disappointed to hear it was closing, but excited to learn Chimera was taking its place. After visiting Chimera for the first time, our excitement quickly vanished.
Pros: The staff was friendly and the service was on time. The venue is a nice place to sit and enjoy.
Cons: The food was mediocre at best. It’s clear, the fries and the chicken were frozen and reheated. If you are looking for the same quality of food that mindful served, you will not receive it at Chimera.
