I brought a vegan friend who was visiting from out of town with family. Even though dining with younger kids can present a challenge, our waiter was super helpful and friendly. He was helpful with explaining the vegan options and making accommodations where possible. It really made the whole experience awesome. I would definitely go back - their options were creative and delicious!

Good sushi, not great. I didn't expect the brown rice. Great service and people. I made some changes to the standard rolls and they made everything perfect.

Been here many times. Best sushi place in Pittsburgh. Like their Uni, sweet shrimp, and toro. Hot dishes are great too.

Very delicious Japanese food, using your own creativity, better than the ramen shop next door.

The fish you get here is as fresh as you can get, and the quality and taste are incredible. The service was a bit slow, but they did accommodate us without a reservation.

Mola never disappoints, they are usually busy but always have your seat ready for you when you arrive with a reservation. Me & my boyfriend came for Valentine’s Day & the service was great and fast, and good delicious as always! I recommend the pork bao, so good.

Undoubtedly the best sushi in Pittsburgh. The menu covers a wide range of options, and none of them disappoint. You don’t have to like sushi to like Mola. They have the best blue crab rolls I’ve ever tasted. Their specialty sushi menu (toro, etc) is amazing if you’re willing to spend the extra money. Still, you could easily have a great dining experience for well under $25. Check the chalkboard for special items before ordering.

Heard great things about Mola, and did not disappoint. Probably the best bang-for-your-buck sushi place in Pittsburgh. Considering the freshness of the sushi, it only came out to be $25-30 per person. Much more reasonably priced than alternative sushi places like Golden Gai or Gi-jin.
Given the price point and quality, Mola is pretty popular so this place can fill up especially because the restaurant is not too large. It can get noisy and a bit crowded. I would recommend coming off peak hours or reserving in advance.
Sushi rolls are about 6 piece for like $10-14. Their Chirashi is $27 but small portioned.

Our waiter was so nice, knowledgeable, and fun! He told us the reason why their sushi rice is brown is because they get special barrel aged (vinegar?) from Japan. This is THE best sushi in Pittsburgh due to the amazing cuts of fish, the rice, and their unique rolls.
Great lychee cocktail as well!

A great spot. Some of the best sushi in the city flown in fresh everyday. I also really like some of their non-sushi dishes like the pork sous vide rice bowl and Bao. Their desserts are also top tier. Definitely a great place to check out if you're in the mood for sushi or Japanese food! Also, I think that they are very fairly priced and have incredible service and atmosphere!

My husband and I came to Mola for my birthday dinner. Prior to this it has been my favorite place to get sushi, mostly from the terminal location. This was my first time dining in at this location and I was excited.
The food was phenomenal as expected, however a distasteful situation with the owner left me very discouraged from returning to Mola. While my husband and I were waiting to order, holding hands across our table, a patron who ordered take out saw us and told our waiter he would like to pay for our meal and left with his order. Our waiter, John, told us this and when we asked for the patron's name he said he didn't know and didn't mention it further. We thought this was odd and were not surprised when our check of $80 came. We paid and left having not thought much of it.
The next morning my husband called the restaurant out of curiosity due to the bizarre interaction. The owner admitted that yes, a patron had left $200 for our tab. However, because we 'didn't know who it was' they elected to keep the money and not apply it to our bill.
I find this particularly greedy for a restaurant that is not cheap to eat. While we were sitting at our table easily three other tables had tabs in the $100s just by listening to what they were ordering over the hour we were dining. Take out was flying out the door. For a successful restaurant such as Mola with a dedicated customer base this behavior was troubling. If my husband had not called the restaurant we would have not known the details and the fact we were cheated out of a kind person paying it forward on a special day.
