The food was great. Our service was even better. The chef did an amazing job with our food, and the server made sure our daughter with food allergies had a safe meal. Thank you for making this birthday celebration a happy one!

food was good our waitress was incredible. i came here for my birthday to have the hibachi experience, but our cook just cooked said thank you and left. while another table close to us got the fire and a birthday celebration. when i usually go to hibachi it's so fun and upbeat and it just wasn't at all what i was expecting. the waitress sang happy birthday to me and made it so much better. it was also really really hot in there.

Our hibachi chef, Tom was wonderful! He made the night so fun and was easy to talk to. Service otherwise was okay, it seemed like they were short staffed but we had a great meal overall.

We dined here in the late afternoon, prior to attending the theater. We found our hibachi dinners first rate. Our server, was very accommodating, friendly, and attentive to our requests. The food was outstanding. Looking forward to returning.

Upon arrival for reservation, we were told we couldn't be seating because they ran out of plates. We went to sit at the bar while waiting; ordered an Espresso Martini- bartender said he doesn't have the ingredients to make those. The entire restaurant was smoked filled and about 80 degrees. It felt like there was no AC on; my friend asked someone if they could open the front door. The food was average. I will never go back to this location, it has really gone down hill over the years.

So I almost didn't write a review but had I read something similar I would have changed my reservation. First this is a 100% Hibachi style restaurant, there are no tables or booths to sit and dine on sushi or a meal like a sesame chicken. You are sat at a hibachi table and succumbed to suffer the whole “show” of flipping forks and knives. Tommy was great and entertaining but if you just want to have a quiet meal, enjoy some saki and have private conversation this isn't the place. Food was ok, as in almost all hibachi meals... over loaded with salt. When I asked the chef at the sushi bar if they had toro (fatty tuna) he replied “no we almost never get toro”. Red flag number one ... ANY good sushi place will or should have toro on the menu. It's loud so don't expect romantic ambiance at a hibachi restaurant. I ordered a mango mojito and it was 50% mint leaves, 25% ice and 25% liquid. Should have gone with a beer. Won't be back unless it's my daughter's 10th birthday and I need my eyebrows singed and I want to meet strangers at a hibachi table. The reason for 3 stars? You get plenty of rice and leftovers if you choose the hibachi and the Chateaubriand was cooked perfectly. Great place if you want to do a saki bomb with 7 drunk friends.

My hibachi dinner was good but the soup, salad and hot sake I got was terrible. Service was slow , it was not that clean and only one server was working. I used to love to come to this place when I came in to visit but now I will re-think and find another hibachi restaurant option. Sad to see because it's a great place.

Besides now having to pay for soup and salad, which is always part of any other hibachi restaurants dinner, the recipes seemed totally different and the salad dressing was super salty. We have been coming to Nakama since it opened. It has always been one of our favorites. Now with the portions being so much smaller then ever, the recipe change and the now even higher prices we will be looking for other hibachi options in the future

We were there for an early dinner and, as always, the food was great and the people were even better! In all our years going to Nakama, those two things are what keeps us coming back.

Boyfriend and I randomly decided to go for the first time since before the pandemic due to a new deal they are doing for $25: chicken, strip steak and shrimp, which seemed to be a great deal. Then I find out that soup and salad are no longer included with the hibachi meal? I have never experienced a hibachi restaurant charging extra for this! I likely won't be going back on a regular basis due to the fact that I would be charged $8 to add soup and salad to my meal when it's included at every other hibachi restaurant I have gone to. That said, the food was delicious and service was good. Surprised to see that it was a ghost town aside from the bar area... I'm thinking that the overall vibe/crime of the South Side may be keeping people away. It's a shame...

This is the worst hibachi and seafood experience I have ever had. More over the so called “owner” who is only the manager tried to fight my fiancée for us telling him it's not appropriate to serve imitation crab at what is supposed to be a high end Japanese dining experience. Then he followed us outside to continue the argument and berate us as patrons. I will be calling the corporate office and letting them know who is running their establishment.

Prices up, amount of food down. Soup and salad are now extra. Our waitress said she was new and it showed. She was not attentive. Took almost an hour for the chef to come to our table with groups that were seated and waited on after us being served first. Food portions were substantially smaller, but my seafood favorite was cooked perfectly. Veggies were almost all onions, so hope you like them..Drinks were very well done, at least the ones that we ordered that the server actually brought to the table. Hopefully the service improves.

This place is not like it used to be , hopping with people. We sat at our hibachi table for at least 20 minutes waiting for the chef to come over and cook the food and there was only one other table there with people, they must've cut back on staff. The food was dry and tasteless and for the first time I didn't finish my meal Very disappointing since this used to be one of our favorite places to come and a bit embarrassing since I talked it up so big to my son since we brought him here for his birthday The server was great though, she was very attentive.

Waiter was very respectful and responsive. We had reservations and was seated 2 minutes after we arrived. Food was very delicious. I got the filet which was out of this world. Thank you for a great service over all. Happy new year!

Our visit to Nakama was great! The food & service was wonderful. Both our waiter and chef were very attentive and provided a great experience. It was a bit noisy and hard to hold a conversation, but that was to be expected with such a lively environment.
