My friend and I weren’t very hungry and planned to share one appetizer and one entrée. After ordering, the owner suddenly said each person must order an entrée to dine in, or else we had to take out. There was no prior notice or signage about this rule, and the owner was very unfriendly, even glaring at us.
Having lived in the U.S. my whole life, I know sharing food is usually allowed unless stated otherwise. This last-minute rule and attitude made us feel unfairly kicked out. Even after paying, they insisted we couldn’t dine in without ordering more food. Very disappointing experience—we won’t be back.
If customer service behavior is tied to tips, I have a question: you simply placed the food in front of me without offering any additional service, and you had a poker face. Why would I need to give a tip in this situation?

This place has the best donburi in all of Pittsburgh. Absolutely everything is delicious, and the vibe in the restaurant is cute. It's a small space, and you order at the counter, so it's great for takeout as well!

Perfect spot for a quick lunch or dinner. My favorite is the tofu katsu bowl - always delicious!

The BEST value for money Asian food in the entire city. And make no mistake, the quality is up there with anywhere. The fish is always so fresh. Sakedon is an instant classic, the takoyaki is some of the best in the city and the calamari is all perfectly crispy tentacles - anything else in this category is easily $10 more per plate anywhere else and the portions were Huge. Easily twice as much fish that’s twice as fresh. One of my new favorites!

What a cool little spot! As soon as you walk in your greeted by the best smells.

The unagi bowl comes with a legit full flank of eel and the pickled veggies are so bright and crisp.

Definitely worth a journey into the city.

Love coming here for lunch or take out when I work in the neighborhood. High quality ingredients and very good portions.

Some of the best Japanese food in Pittsburgh!! The Curry Katsu is absolutely amazing and the Unadon (Unagi bowl?) also really great if you like eel.

The owner is extremely kind and the workers are so efficient you’ll barely wait for your food. Free barley tea as well!

I love the atmosphere as well. Threw me back to when I was in Osaka earlier this year. If you like Katsu absolutely give this place a try, you won’t regret it.

tl;dr Fantastic little place, perfect on a cold winter's day, with great food and fast staff!

Came in towards close and grabbed a katsudon, and they served it near instantly! Small, fast casual, with a straightforward staff that is nice (even if they aren't the conversational type, they smile and are helpful!)

Also, free warm barley tea, just like my mom used to make :)

The katsudon came with a small cup of tonkatsu sauce and it was absolutely fantastic and veeerrryyyy filling. Happy to have gave this place a try during my trip in PGH!

Parking: Street parking, like most main-strip stores you'll want to park elsewhere and walk (or simply walk)

fish was not great. all the service ware is plastic, but mostly they are rude. lots of places in this city to eat where they at least act happy that you’re there. this food is simply not good enough to be treated so poorly

I will never patronize this place. If you order food from a third party, and have it delivered, these people treat your driver like a second class citizen. Won't let them use the restroom, for customers only. Never heard of such a policy, as the driver is basically standing in as the customer. We are supposed to wash our hands, and while I always carry and use sanitizer, when there is a wait, I always wash my hands thoroughly. Very important when handling orher people's food. Until this policy is addressed, never picking up or eating here.
