Our pasta was delicious as was the gelato. The service was very prompt and friendly. We left extremely satisfied with our meal.

PaPa J’s Twin Plaza is hands-down my favorite place to eat out in Pittsburgh — and honestly, it's so much more than just incredible food. This family-owned spot is a true local gem, serving up consistently delicious, comforting meals that always hit the spot. Every dish is made with care and heart, and you can truly taste the difference.

What makes PaPa J’s Twin Plaza truly special, though, is the people behind it. The owner is one of the kindest, most generous, and genuinely wonderful people I’ve ever met. You can feel the warmth and pride that goes into every part of the experience — and the rest of the family is just as amazing. They welcome you like one of their own, and it’s that genuine hospitality that keeps me coming back.

But let me talk about the gelato — because it deserves its own paragraph. It’s unreal. Smooth, rich, and bursting with flavor, it’s easily some of the best I’ve ever had — not just in Pittsburgh, but anywhere. Every flavor I’ve tried is a standout, whether it's a classic like my favorite Stracciatella, chocolate, or something more unique. You can tell it’s made with quality ingredients and serious passion. It’s worth stopping in just for the gelato — though you’ll want to stay for a full meal too.

If you’re in Pittsburgh and haven’t been to PaPa J’s Twin Plaza yet, do yourself a favor and go. You’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

Gelato is not bad. But still trying to understand their charging system. Ordered a double scoop gelato but charged as 2 single scoop.

I came here on a tasting event but I've also been here before. I was honestly expecting to put their pizza in the tasting event because they have really solid pizza

But they went with their gelato which their gelato is really good too. The salted fig gelato that I had tasted pretty much like a sea salt caramel it was very good. Very smooth very decadent. It is a very decadent gelato and it is very good and very smooth.

There are a few places that I know that have better gelato. They are few and far between.
Their pizza from what I remember is pretty good. Pretty solid above average for sure. I know a lot of pizza places around here though. So there's tough competition.

Was there with my partner last week. We live in Indiana, and we were on vacation. We decided to eat lunch and boy are we glad we did! Our server was awesome, and the food was amazing! I had the Carbonara and my partner had pizza. The carbonara was the best I have ever had, and the pizza was so good! If you are ever in Pittsburgh, give it a try. You will glad you did. Thank you for an amazing experience!

We come here every time we are in Pittsburgh (4 times a year) and it is always amazing, we grab pizza. The mortadella and the sweet soppresatta with hot honey pizza is amazing and a must! One slice is the size of two slices of square pizza.

This is my second time visiting PaPa J 's in their current location. I was so impressed with the dinners that were served that I can't wait to patronize this establishment again. Homemade pasta at its best. Our meals were served piping hot, which is exactly how I love my pasta. The bread was also excellent. I miss the old establishment in Carnegie, but I will definitely return to the Pittsburgh location. Thank you so much for serving an enjoyable meal. ❤️❤️❤️

This was my first and last time eating at this place. The staff was nice enough but it took forever to bring out my pizza, and when it arrived it was cold. I saw a mouse running around and when I pointed it out to my server she didn’t seem concerned at all. There were mouse droppings on the floor! This place is disgusting and unsanitary. Digiornos makes better pizzas, at least theirs are hot.

In summary, rude service and we got sick. I was the only customer and was told to wait five minutes. Then I was given the old pizza. And my wife and I got sick. How about throwing out the old pizza that has been sitting all afternoon?

It was $45 for Alfredo with chicken and the portion was pretty unremarkable. The service was also all over the place. There were many open tables but we were told it was a 45 minute wait. Our waitress seemed super confused and even forgot one of our party members meals… I wouldn’t come back.
