If you're looking for a local hangout and local sandwiches this is the place to go. We are visiting from out of town and were looking for a place to have lunch after the Heinz museum. Just as short stroll away in an area of town that's for the restaurants. My wife and I both had cheesesteak sandwiches which were delicious

I had a cheesesteak with well done fried onions yesterday. It was terrific. The roll was soft and flaky, excellent steak and cheese. Fun atmosphere, great guys behind the counter. Highly recommend Peppi’s.

Its everything, from the people behind the counter to the fresh ingredients in every sandwich. The cheese steak is a simple but guaranteed favorite. I like trying a lot of different things, my go to is the Santucci with mustard and balsamic vinaigrette.

I came on a tasting event which I know you're not going to get the best food of the restaurant, which I still think is kind of silly because they're supposed to be putting their best foot forward and selling themselves.
But it was just a ham sub. The bread was very dry. It wasn't steamed or toasted or anything. It was just a very thick sub roll that was very dry. Had a little bit of meat on it and a little bit of lettuce and tomato like. No mayo or sauce that I could tell. I was looking forward to eating here because I'd heard good things, but the first impression I got from here wasn't great. It wasn't horrid like some other places but it does not make me want to come back. Maybe I'll try them another time, but there's a lot of really good places right around here so they have stiff competition. I mean the ham, lettuce tomato was okay average. Nothing special. The bread too thick too dry.
Nothing really more to add. There wasn't much to mention.

Had Franco and Ultra with Cajun fries. Plenty of food for the money
Been going to Peppi's since 1984 never had an issue. This one at the Strip District I' have absolutely no idea what happened but the cheese steak aka the big wheeler was absolutely horrible. The bread was stale, the meat wasn't chopped up it was in big chunks & nothing was fresh, mayonnaise was splattered everywhere also. Peppi's, Mineos, Primanti's are the Burgh staples. Whomever the owner is please have them step their game up.
