My first visit to Piebird Pastry Kitchen in the Lawrenceville area of Pittsburgh was quite an experience. Ordering online was a breeze. However, finding street parking was tough and really inconvenient during the holiday rush. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The smell wafting through the store was absolutely divine.
On the downside, the pie felt a bit overpriced at $35. It seemed a little steep for what I got. The pie was definitely smaller than I anticipated....
I just had a piece of his sour cherry slab pie at the Sewickley Blooms Market. Ranks up there with the best pie I’ve ever had! Buttery, flaky crust and almost too much fruit. I wanted to share a “before” picture but I had it all scarfed down by the time I decided to review it.
Just ridiculously phenomenal pies. I've had the chess pie, the mixed berry sour cream pie, and an apple pie. You can do a sunscription with them directly, or get them delievered any week with a Harvie membership, which is what I've done. The pies are always changing with the seasons and the ingredients are top notch.
