All the hype is undeserved, over cooked croissants and the apple studel was a chunk of uncooked dough with a few cinnamon and apples on top, very disappointing

I've been shopping Prantls for 30yrs. It used to be such a treat to go there. The staff has changed the atmosphere has changed drastically. The manager had a name tag on letting you know he was the boss. He was not very personable and acted like he was too busy to wait on me but hurry up I'll take your money. Smh. The cake I bought there was decorated there and the icing was smeared. So much for presentation. Seem like the mgr would have checked the cake before giving it to me. The young lady that decorated the cake was so nice I didn't make a fuss about it. I should have listened to some of the reviews. Lesson learned. Now I'm afraid to cut the cake. If the taste is as poor as the service. Won't be going back there. So disappointed. The mgr should know how to run a business. Not my job to tell him how to improve his business.

The almond torte from Prantl’s was the only cake we considered for our wedding, and it was absolutely beautiful and delicious! The booking, scheduling, and delivery all went smoothly. We look forward to ordering an almond torte each year to celebrate our anniversary!

We were unaware that Prantls bakery took over Lincoln Bakery and made the unfortunate decision to buy a birthday cake from there. They are not using the same buttercream icing recipe as Lincoln bakery. The buttercream icing Prantle’s uses is awful, it’s like eating straight powdered sugar. It’s worse than all the less expensive grocery store birthday cake’s icing. We need Shorres Bakery from Perrysville Ave or Lincoln Bakery to come back with their amazing their amazing buttercream icing recipe

Prantl's never fails! Excellent service, excellent quality. Toasted almond tortes, fruit cheese pies, carrot cakes, cream puffs, and much, much more! Always busy, well-staffed, always fresh!

Shereese was great! Everyone else is so nice too, I got an iced brownie and it was delicious!

Mediocre pastries that often taste stale, maybe good for whole cakes but events that need big cakes don’t come up that often for me.

I was blown away at my experience at prantls on sunday. The new sales associate Andrea gave me some of the best service I have had in years at that bakery The sales associates usually make you feel like you're bothering them when you come in there. As soon as I came in the door she greeted me with a smile and explained so many of the products to me. I couldn't have been happier with my service. Make sure you keep her because I will be coming back a lot more now.

My daughter sent a picture of the heart shaped cake she wanted for her 26th birthday April 3.
Not only did I receive a courtesy 4:15p, call. ( I was supposed to pick up at 9am).
The cake was perfect!
And might I add delicious.
Thank you!!

Lackluster service is whatever, I know retail isn’t great somedays. But let me tell you, my disappointment once I got home and my partner and I tried a piece of this TEN DOLLAR cake… immeasurable. The icing? It’s literally oil and sugar. No flavor. Literally cheap supermarket icing, not buttercream, not Swiss or Italian either, not even standard American, nothing with flavor just oil and sugar. Bland. Saccharin. Gross. And the cake? Tell me, why on earth was the cake dry and tasted stale??? Genuinely shocking. And the raspberry on top (raspberry white chocolate) tasted like jelly. Not homemade compote, nah just jelly. Disgusting, not worth half the money. We didn’t finish them. So, out of frustration, we went ahead and tried our Red Velvet slices too, just get it out of the way. Where’s the cream cheese?! Oh, it’s in between the layers, but the entire slice is covered in that disgusting oily sugar icing. And the cream cheese icing? Barely tasted like cream cheese. Still oily. Still gross. The chocolate cake isn’t actually red velvet (not the hugest sin) but it is the blandest chocolate cake with red dye. Genuinely upsetting. And finally, I bought a cheesecake bite for the drive home that I forgot to mention. Literally a single bite for $5. It was mediocre at best, tasted like instant cheesecake. How on earth does this place have such good reviews??? I would NEVER recommend their disgusting baked goods, not even if the prices were significantly cheaper. Don’t waste almost $40 like I did.

Ordered a 21st Birthday cake for daughter and paid over the phone. When her friend went to pick it up in Shadyside they couldn't find the cake. After a 1/2 they handed him a cake box. When my daughter opened it, it had someone else's name on it. Mistakes happen but I left a message and never got a call back.
Have ordered from there before for my daughter who goes to Pitt but wont be any longer. Customer service is lacking

Best cake not only in Pittsburgh but in general! Anytime we are in the city, we make it a point to stop in for their original almond torte cake. The cake is moist, the pastry cream and icing are not overly sweet, and the almonds are perfection! Cannot recommend this place enough!

Ordered the hermit cookie as it looked very rich and chocolatey, I should’ve asked what was in it as it had dried fruit which made for a Less enjoyable texture - but that’s on me.

Not impressed by the chocolate croissant, it was not buttery and more like a bread roll.

Worth another visit
The pineapple and cheese pastry was the redemption - delicious.
