Finally tried the famous Burnt Almond Cake from Prantl! They have a bunch of different treats, their almond croissants and cookies have been great, but I was surprisingly underwhelmed by the Almond cake.
The toasted outside was the best part, but the frosting was really sweet and the cream in the middle had no flavor. The cake itself was light and fluffy which was the better part. Also tried the raspberry version, which I would not really recommend if you don’t like fake fruit flavoring, original is the one to try. Overall I still love a lot of their pastries and they’re very consistent, just don’t need to get the almond cake again.
We, recently, moved to the area and decided to try Prantl’s today. We ended up with the Burnt Almond Torte Bar, a quiche, and an Empanada. I started with the quiche and enjoyed it; the crust was just average but the egg filing was very good. My wife was not a fan of the empanada so we will not get that again.
It was around 10 hours before we tried our Burnt Almond Torte…wow! That dessert is something that I will eat again, and again. The toasted almonds were soooo good! They were crunchy, crispy, and perfect. The Bar Cake had a white cake inside and icing on the outside; it was heavily coated in those almonds.
The person who assisted was knowledgeable about the items to a point; she did not eat anything in the bakery so it was by observation. Don’t care, that Burnt Almond Torte is the real deal!

Finally got around to trying this very famous cake that some call the best in the USA. The burnt almond torte. Tried for a special occasion, the torte and the carrot cake pastry.
The burnt almond torte was very good. The best I’ve ever had? Maybe, but not for sure. The cream is so tasty, the cake itself is soft and surprisingly flavorful with some vanilla, and the almonds are just so so good. So crunchy and sugary. It is really good and well worth the price. I love that they have smaller bars now, which are actually still quite large.
However, can’t say the same about the carrot cake. It was so tiny and not that flavorful at all. I am surprised they came from the same bakery.

We purchased a school bus themed cake for my mom’s retirement (she’s a bus driver). The cake was beautiful and delicious! I spoke with Tara and she was very helpful. When my husband picked up the cake they helped him out the door and to the car as he had a baby in tow. Amazing service! I will be purchasing from here again!

3.5% handling fee all transactions cash or card is just ridiculous, don’t obfuscate your pricing.
All the hype is undeserved, over cooked croissants and the apple studel was a chunk of uncooked dough with a few cinnamon and apples on top, very disappointing
I've been shopping Prantls for 30yrs. It used to be such a treat to go there. The staff has changed the atmosphere has changed drastically. The manager had a name tag on letting you know he was the boss. He was not very personable and acted like he was too busy to wait on me but hurry up I'll take your money. Smh. The cake I bought there was decorated there and the icing was smeared. So much for presentation. Seem like the mgr would have checked the cake before giving it to me. The young lady that decorated the cake was so nice I didn't make a fuss about it. I should have listened to some of the reviews. Lesson learned. Now I'm afraid to cut the cake. If the taste is as poor as the service. Won't be going back there. So disappointed. The mgr should know how to run a business. Not my job to tell him how to improve his business.
The almond torte from Prantl’s was the only cake we considered for our wedding, and it was absolutely beautiful and delicious! The booking, scheduling, and delivery all went smoothly. We look forward to ordering an almond torte each year to celebrate our anniversary!

We were unaware that Prantls bakery took over Lincoln Bakery and made the unfortunate decision to buy a birthday cake from there. They are not using the same buttercream icing recipe as Lincoln bakery. The buttercream icing Prantle’s uses is awful, it’s like eating straight powdered sugar. It’s worse than all the less expensive grocery store birthday cake’s icing. We need Shorres Bakery from Perrysville Ave or Lincoln Bakery to come back with their amazing their amazing buttercream icing recipe

Prantl's never fails! Excellent service, excellent quality. Toasted almond tortes, fruit cheese pies, carrot cakes, cream puffs, and much, much more! Always busy, well-staffed, always fresh!
Shereese was great! Everyone else is so nice too, I got an iced brownie and it was delicious!
Mediocre pastries that often taste stale, maybe good for whole cakes but events that need big cakes don’t come up that often for me.
I was blown away at my experience at prantls on sunday. The new sales associate Andrea gave me some of the best service I have had in years at that bakery The sales associates usually make you feel like you're bothering them when you come in there. As soon as I came in the door she greeted me with a smile and explained so many of the products to me. I couldn't have been happier with my service. Make sure you keep her because I will be coming back a lot more now.
My daughter sent a picture of the heart shaped cake she wanted for her 26th birthday April 3.
Not only did I receive a courtesy 4:15p, call. ( I was supposed to pick up at 9am).
The cake was perfect!
And might I add delicious.
Thank you!!
