Had a custom cake made for my 30th birthday and i’m extremely disappointed. We showed them a photo of a white heart shaped cake and they made us a brown heart shaped cake with horrible font on it. We asked to have it done exactly like the photo. Who the hell wants a brown cake? I will never have a cake made here again.
FANTASTIC FULL SHEET CAKE! I ordered a really large full sheet cake for a retirement party at an office building downtown. They put a custom design on the cake and added beautiful decorative flowers it was just perfect! They delivered the cake early enough in the day and everyone in our office building said it tasted GREAT! I have recommended Prantl's to our office staff for future cake orders and the service I received was warm and friendly. Thank you Prantl's for helping to make our party a huge success!
The best, just perfect
Love the sticky buns!
We utilized Prantl's for our cookie table and wedding cake. We cannot recommend them enough!! If you need cookie options then you need to go with Prant's Bakery. The cookies were not only delicious but they organized the different cookies in their own boxes and labeled them so our venue could set up the cookies with ease. This was so helpful! Our wedding cake was beautifully decorated and delicious. Thank you for everything!

I know pastries and baked goods are mostly butter, but it shouldn't taste like I'm eating a stick of butter. Maybe I just haven't played to their strengths and got the wrong things, but we've tried a couple of times now and always, not worth the calories.

10% 'service charge' on every purchase now what a disgusting way to skim all of your customers -- running a business includes providing services to your customers.
Way to loose a near daily customer, haven't been charged that EVER in the past. Pass on any business with a "corpo tax"

This place is the best! Free item for $10 purchase on Tuesdays, free coffee on Thursdays, plus, buy one get one slice of cake, what else could we ask for? Staff is just amazing kind and sweet, cakes are delicious, this is a must!

I love this place. I always stop by whenever I have a sweet tooth. I love how you can buy two cake slices for the price of one. They always have some kind of deal going on but even without the deals, the prices are amazing. The brownies are my favorite, they are supper fudgey.

What a classic bakery in Pittsburgh — even though it’s now “corporate-owned.” Of course I had to snag the famous almond torte/cake which I equate with Prantl’s. I supplemented with vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with sprinkles, and four large frosted sugar cookies with sprinkles as well. To round off things for my dessert for the family Easter dinner I’m attending, I picked up some Easter egg shaped sugar cookies sprinkled with colored sugar. Yummy!Definitely worth a trip! Nice, accommodating staff here at the Forbes Avenue location as well.

This is the best location! They've redeemed the Prantl's name after The Birthday Cake Debacle of 2022 at a different Prantl's location. Everything here looked absolutely tantalizing. The cookies and scones were the bomb! Service was most excellent and everyone working there looked like they actually wanted to be there. That's always a bonus! Thank you!!!

This iteration of Prantl’s combines the worst aspects of a rip off and chutzpah.First the food: I bought a toasted almond torte log which is their signature offering. While still very tasty, it is not in any way comparable to what they produced when Prantl’s was a single store in Shadyside under the original ownership. When I went to check out there is a small sign by the cashier(which I did not see anywhere else in the store) that indicates all orders are subject to a service charge of around 3.2%. This is not a typical service charge where one VOLUNTARILY pays for service if you thing it is warranted. This simply is an add up charge on all items purchased. Every price in the store then is understated in its accurate. If Prantl’s feels the need to charge more for their items, then just charge more in the price—- rather than deceptively trying to pass through an additional charge at check out to a clerk who also was rather surly.I would be reluctant to shop at Prantl’s again as long as they continue their deceptive pricing policy.

Burnt almost tort. We bought what we thought was the famous cake of Pittsburgh origin, the location had two options a square cake for 37$ or a round for 34$ (previously these cakes have never been this expensive) but being curious we asked what the difference was in price as the round was larger but less expensive, we were informed that it has different custard and the square has the original recipe custard but that they both taste the same. So to save a penny we bought the round one, and what a mistake that was. This has everything a burnt almond tort should have, with a very perplexing flavor profile, that one can only assume is from the change in the custard. It was almost like a lemon zest vanilla custard in tanginess and entirely derailed the pallet of the rest of the cake. It was just entirely a disappointment.TLDR get the square cake cause the round one isn't burnt almond tort.
