Pre Amp is a new coffee shop with a lot of promise, and some damn good (but pricey) options and sandwiches!

The veggie sandwich was a stand out, crispy eggplant with a nice spread on a huge focaccia bread piece, it’s a little pricy but is basically two meals. The drinks are also on the expensive side, but I really enjoyed the Smokey Robinson, a latte with a really strong spiced peppercorn flavor that not everyone might like.

The staff was super quick and helpful, and the vibe was great, but if it’s crowded, it’s really hard to maneuver around or really sit anywhere. There’s a really narrow walkway with seats on the sides, so it’s a bit hard to get a seat and do work, read, chat, etc. but when it’s not crowded, it’s a really chill environment! Excited to see what specials they come up with next!

Every detail about this cafe is so thoughtful and beautiful. Great vibe for a coffee date or a place to get some work done. The staff is friendly, food is delicious and the matcha latte is superb.

Sandwich bread is dry, chewy and thick. They’re expensive for what they are, you’re better off eating them open face. If it had a decent amount of filling and relatively good bread, it would be five stars. The fillings are actually excellent.

As soon as I walked in, the barista eyed me up and down. Not sure what she was thinking. That was a little offputting.

The seating area in the front and at the bar looked pretty cool.

My drink tasted bitter and was a bit expensive.

Love this new cafe on Forbes Ave. in Squirrel Hill! Everything is good and the pastry and food choices are a cut above the competition. You should stop in and meet Danny and team.

Great place! Immaculate vibes and delicious (and huge) sandwiches. Furthermore, when I lost my wallet at the cafe, Danny the owner was super helpful about coordinating getting it back to me even though it was during when they are off!

this was easily the worst coffee i’ve had in the city. they are putting passenger coffee to SHAME. the place is way too small with nowhere to sit. the cashier is doing 3 jobs at once — taking orders, checking people out and delivering food to people. it’s inefficient and the outcome is a terrible, overpriced cup of coffee. honestly, go down the street to pigeon for a better coffee.

Really great coffee and espresso drinks. Staff was great and gave us a sample of some cold brew we were curious about.

Only one small complaint was that there were no hooks at the counter for jackets. Everyone sat at the counter with their coats over their laps.

Otherwise, excellent atmosphere. Excellent drinks. Excellent service. Great having a spot with lots of non-alcohol options.

Pre Amp was bustling on a rainy January day. The space was designed beautifully with a warm, retro feel that didn't feel overdone or cheap. It was very crowded but the intimate space seemed to put everyone in a friendly chatty mood. My house made soda was great. I hope that they extend their hours later into the evening.

The chicken parm sandwich was out of this world, atmosphere is busy and fun, and coffee was delish! A must-stop when in Squirrel Hill!

Tried the hot chocolate. Seemed smoky smelling and was bitter. Wonder if some leftover coffee residue got mixed up in it. Staff was very nice and quick, so points there.

Putting a black drip coffee in the barista queue and making me wait 15 minutes is diabolical work. Just have the cashier pull it quickly. Do better, Deshantz. Every other good coffee purveyor in a 100 mile radius does this. Quality of food and coffee is excellent though.

Edit: I returned and was served drip coffee immediately after ordering. Excellent response to feedback. Highly recommend this shop.
