French fries do not belong on a sandwich šÆ. There, now I got that out of the way. I always remembered Primanti Brothers from a PBS tv show called āSandwiches you will loveā from many years ago. I have checked a few off the show list already. So I was excited to try one here. Whatās special is most all the sandwiches are just under $10, so a tremendous value. Even their location inside the Pittsburgh Airport has the same prices as all the other locations š. I went with the pastrami version which comes standard with cheese, signature coleslaw, and fries all between Italian bread. I had a suspicion Iād be removing the fries after a few bites, but I wanted the full Primanti experience at first. I was very surprised to see the thick cut Italian bread is straight out of the bag without toasting or grilling. Then coupled with the fries that mustāve immediately turned mushy from the coleslaw, it made for an extremely dry sandwich. Unlike a Rueben, there wasnāt any condiment on the sandwich, so even after removing the soft french fries that had soaked up the moisture of the slaw, I was left with a chintzy amount of pastrami, cheese, and cabbage on these thick planks of dry bread. I couldnāt muster another bite so I just picked the few strands of pastrami off. I suppose if it was the depression era, and it was my only meal while working hard in the steel mill all day like their history states, Iād be more grateful for the carbs, starch, and protein. But today, I was very disappointed and left hungry.

Iāve eaten here ALOT, more than Iām comfortable admitting if weāre being honest. Most of the food is solid, I see no drop off with sandwiches when compared to the strip or market square. Do not order the pizza, they canāt get it right for the life of them but if you want pizza at primantis you have problems of your own. Wings are okay but on the smaller side if weāre being honest.
Had a server named Heather and sheās a different story compared to the food, one of the more rude people Iāve ever dealt with in service. She seemed upset if you would ask for anything (refills, cups of sauce, empty ketchup bottle refill), did not seem to interact pleasantly with her co-workers either, and smelled terribly like cigarettes, to the point it was unbearable if she was near you for more then a few seconds.
Overall Iāve had good experiences here and everyone else I dealt with were wonderful and truly seemed happy to be there.

I haven't dined in in a year or so. Took a seat at the bar for lunch. A few minutes later the Bartender brought out another customers classic sandwich, I had to ask if that was the normal or if they asked for extra meat. IT WAS THE NORMAL! I have been getting the take out in Cranberry and was blown away by the graciously devine looking North Hills location's in-house portion. I think I'll just stop getting take out. Pastrami n cheese FTW. I'd leave a photo but the sammy wouldn't fit in frame!

What Happened to this place. Used to be good old Primanti but every time I go it gets worse. Tonight was the last time I will go to this branch. Sandwich had all the meat on a small side of the bread. The rest on the plate. The bread was so stale it crumbled to almost nothing when I tried to cut it or pick it up. We eat at this place every couple or three weeks. Every time it just gets more and more terrible.

We had reservations after dinner and when we arrived they said they weren't seating anyone for 25 minutes because the power went out momentarily. We went to the bar for drinks and the bartender refused to get anyone drinks until everyone knew what they wanted, despite it being separate checks. We then had to wait for her to separate the checks we tried to order separately. Our waitress then came 3 different times and asked what people wanted to drink and would walk away mid-order... it was odd. The food was ok with cold fries and trouble getting refills. We will choose a different location the next time we have a get together.
