Prantls has historically been my FAVORITE bakery in all of Pittsburgh. But prices have really gone up in recent years (almost doubling for my favorite items), and quality standards have gone down. The last 2 times I visited the North Side location, I received a stale cookie. A stale Prantls cookie is still pretty great, but I used to pay about $2 for a fresh iced cookie, and now it’s at least $4 and stale… 2 visits in a row! We are from SC and wanted to try the Burnt Almond Torte for which Prantl’s is famous. We did not end up getting it because it needs to be refrigerated and we did not have access to refrigeration, but we bought tons of other pastries and they were all amazing! There was even one that was smaller and similar to the torte so we tried that.
The soda in their cooler was delicious too - not too sweet!
The ladies working were so welcoming and sweet. If you are in...
Best sugar cookies I ever had. Me and my boyfriend loved the oatmeal cookies because they were chewy soft and perfect amount of sugar. We also like some dinner rolls that looked like muffin shape. I forgot to try the blue Barry muffin. I’m going back for that.
