My favorite diner in the area. Good food and service, and a short walk from where I usually stay.

I have been coming to Ritter’s for years and always had great service and food. I unfortunately have to edit my review to account for the most recent visit where we waited a very long time for our food with other tables getting their orders before us, only to find a hair in the hash browns when we received the order.
I let the waitress know and she took it back to have them remake it. The plate came back a minute later with the same eggs as before but a new order of hash browns and uncooked vegetables. I knew the eggs were the same be cause I had put salt and pepper on them when they came out before I noticed the hair.
The waitress was sympathetic and was able to get the food taken off since I hadn’t eaten any of it, but alluded to the manager yelling at her for this. She said he was not happy with having to take the charge off the bill.
When I went up to pay, a man named Joe took my payment and I asked if he was the manager and he said he was the owner. He was very unfriendly and I would even say combative when I spoke to him about my concerns with the experience today. He argued with me and said he was the one who made the new order and admitted to using the same eggs as before. I said I understand but I had hoped for all fresh food for cleanliness and health standards purposes. He said mistakes happen and that I should be happy he took the food off the bill. I was very disappointed and left hungry. I don’t know if Joe is a new owner or just in a bad mood, but I hope things go back to how they used to be soon. I know the restaurant has a long rich history in the community and like I said, I have always loved coming to Ritter’s in the past.

Excellent western omelet...toast unfortunately was way to burned. Loud obnoxious servers who were very unlady like. Ladies please stop acting worse than men when serving others!

I want to preface this post with: The food and service were on point. Service was fast and the lady who was taking care of us was awesome. However, the patrons here got into a loud homophobic and racist political argument that caused an altercation. The owner did not handle it in a way that makes us think that they are against such things. I can only say that though the food and the service was on point, the patrons chirping loudly making people uncomfortable should be kicked out of your establishment and arrested for public indecency. Completely unacceptable behavior in public by adults. Owner should be ashamed. Also the person who the patrons of the restaurant were chirping was a woman.
