Recently saw the Titanic Artifacts Exhibit here, it was very interesting and had a very good presentation. The theater here is also very impressive, so were the movies they were showing. We did miss out on the USS Requin submarine, as it was closed for the season. But it would have been nice to see it, but there were still other worth while exhibits. Like human anatomy and the Pittsburgh historical replica and model trains. All-in-all, a very worth-while excursion.

I'm very disappointed in this place. The top floor is a playground for kids 6 and under and my kids who are 8 and 10 raced up to the top because they saw the playground set only to be met with a rude employee who questioned me about their ages the second I walked over to read the sign. I didn't even get a chance to read it before he interrogated me about their ages. If the kids can't access all of the different levels, then you should be charging a different and lower price for the older kids. I couldn't believe that the Carnegie science center discriminates against kids over the age of six years old. The trip overall was a huge disappointment. I would never ever go back and never recommend that anybody go there because other people clearly don't care that their children are sick and they are bringing them to the science center with gobs of snot coming out of their noses and mouths and dripping all over The exhibits. It was disgusting.

Went to the Titanic Exhibit this past weekend. It was packed!! We had to park in a parking lot adjacent to the center and paid $6 for parking. Luckily we bought tickets online so getting checked in was a breeze. At check in we were assigned an individual from the Titanic to be. The exhibit was pretty neat. Lots of information that I did not know and some pretty cool artifacts. Thought it was pretty cool to have an 'iceberg' to touch and feel. Then at the end you could scan your ticket to see if your person survived or not. Would recommend in going and honestly would go again in the future.

Complete and utter waste of time going to this place. This is the second time in less than a year I have in good faith tried to support this place by visiting. The first time on the submarine where I was told I had to reserve a time to visit the submarine at a time of day when there were self guided tours and that there was no time limit that you could stay on board. I was being rushed off the second I entered the hull by a pushy tour guide who advised me there was a time limit while you were on board. I was there to shoot (for myself a 360 guided tour). Today it was the Titanic display, again, show any type of camera beyond a stupid iphone and they hassle the sh!t out of you. Never again Carnegie, NEVER!!!

I've heard about the Science Center for years and was finally able to go. It was fine but frankly it was underwhelming. They say on their website that they are good for all ages, but it felt like my 12 yo was too old. It was fine. But we were expecting more. We probably won't return. The connected Highmark SportsWork was understaffed and the staff that were there didn't intervene at all when children were abusing (think hitting with a baseball bat) the other equipment or throwing basketballs around the facility. My child liked this facility but was disheartened by the behavior of others. We also did the titanic exhibit. It was also underwhelming, lots of projected text.

This review is for the Titanic exhibit only. The exhibit itself is small. They have personal items recovered belonging to the victims, items from the ship such as a few cabin items, nautical items, a porthole, and pots & pans from the kitchen. The largest displays are of the cabins. They have two completely furnished exemplars. I'm not sure how much is from the ship, though. Much of the exhibit is projected text describing how the accident happened. You exit through the exhibit gift shop where you can purchase prints of your picture that was taken at the entrance. Personally I was disappointed with the Titanic exhibit.

I had made a mistake in a booking for an evening with my girlfriend, and a quick call to April and her coworker fixed everything. I can't tell you how easy they are to work with over the phone. They are just the nicest and very professional.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. Right off the bat employees were rude and disrespectful. If you ask staff a question or even ask if certain attractions are included or in use, they could simply not let you on because they didn't feel like it. If this place is open, and there's no lines and there's no signs saying it's out of order then why restrict guest to use things just because they want stand around on their phones. This place is expensive with a whopping price of almost 50$ for two adult people. Considering this place was not renovated and almost half of the interactions were out of order, it was not worth it. I felt robbed, if I would've known the cool attractions like going on the submarine isn't included or any of the non-kid activities were broken then I would've gone else where. I will never come back, even with children it is much more fun going to your local playground than here. Even the things that are in use, do not work half of the time. Especially in this economy, DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARN MONEY HERE. Trust me your kids will be happier at Chuck E. Cheese or Dave and busters. I would also include that hygiene is NOT a priority here. When you look at certain areas , you would see build up in the sports center, and human anatomy area. It looks like they haven't cleaned in a decade, seriously at least put some working hand sanitizers nearby for guest. In a post-Covid economy you would expect some cleaning procedure like vacuuming, sanitizing, cleaning build up in the fans where debris is coming out. I noticed it in not just one but at least three other fans where people could put their face next to and see how dirty the build up was coming out. Hire friendly staff, clean the place at least once, stop your staff from power trips and fix your attractions. If I'm paying for attractions highlighted on your website and none of them work and you can't even go on the submarine without getting attitude from staff or have fun without staff trying to kick you out an hour before closing, then it is a total rip off. I need my money back.

Absolutely love taking my kids to this place. My oldest loves looking at all the science things and doing all the little activities. Definitely will be coming here again with both of my kiddos!

This was probably our third or fourth visit to the Carnegie Science Center and it was such a blast to experience it through our toddlers eyes. We spent two hours exploring the four floors of fun and learning that the museum offers. Our adult tickets were $25 each and kiddos under two are free. The biggest draw for our visit was the large train exhibit. We probably spent thirty minutes in that room alone. There are so many intricate details and history factoids to soak in. I love how the exhibit showcases not only the four seasons but the lights change to experience both day and night. It's a beauty and fun for both adults and kids. The museum also features an outer space exhibit, shows, hands-on water features, small water creatures, Lego exhibits and more. I especially appreciated the section dedicated to those six and under with musical instruments, a climbing space, small tables, etc. I thought this museum does an exceptional job of catering to all ages. The cherry on top? Parking was $5 - not shabby.

If you come and there are school groups and camps here, good luck. There were SO MANY groups here that lines were so long to do anything. Some exhibits were also closed.

My kids enjoyed it. I haven't been to the science center in about five years and I did notice that some things were different while others are still the same. Admission is a decent price and includes the sports center next door as well as a few other things. The map says the submarine is included in the admission though when I went outside to go to the submarine, there was a sign that said tour pass required. Not too sure what that was about but I decided just to turn around and opt out of going inside it. Parking was $5.

According to the Carnegie Science Center's website, General Admission includes the Miniature Railroad and Village, Mars: The Next Giant Leap, Highmark SportsWorks (in a building next door), four floors of interactive exhibits, Buhl Planetarium astronomy shows, and the USS Requin submarine (in the nearby river). Other areas of the museum--the Rangos Giant Cinema, the Laser Show, and the current Vikings exhibit--are NOT included in General Admission and cost additional money. I have visited this science center at least a few times over the past several years. In previous visits, I toured the main building and submarine and watched a laser show. During my visit today, I toured the main building and paid extra to tour the Vikings exhibit. Two parking lots--the Main and the North--are available, and they cost $5, which is paid at the end of the visit. I initially tried to park in the Main lot, but the parking arm/gate would not go up, and no employee answered the help button, so I ended up parking across the street in the North lot. I had bought tickets through the website days earlier, but I still needed to have an employee scan my tickets. The front desk had several employees, but they initially ignored me. Two employees were reading books! After a minute, one employee said that she could help me. The main building consists of a ground floor and four upper floors. I do not have children, but I saw many children playing with the interactive exhibits and having fun. Some of my favorite exhibits were the Miniature Railroad and Village, the displays about preparing for life on Mars (e.g., growing microorganisms and plants), and the full-scale replicas of the International Space Station. I appreciated the volunteers who monitored the exhibits and provided educational information. The Vikings exhibit contained artifacts that were well over 1,000 years-old, including swords, axes, arrowheads, horse stirrups, and brooches. I felt interested in the small boat that was reconstructed out of wood, steel, a wool sail, and ropes. I spent about 20 minutes in this Vikings exhibit. At the end of my visit, I shopped in the gift shop, the XPLOR Store. I chose to buy astronauts' ice cream and a bee house. The cashier did a good job with ringing up my purchase, processing my payment, and bagging my merchandise. Other important information: The on-site restaurant is called the RiverView Café, and it sells foods such as pizzas, sandwiches, soups, and salads.
