The staff is friendly and creates a comfortable atmosphere for both regulars and newcomers. The cafe is recognized for its great service and as a local favorite with a long-standing connection to Pittsburgh universities. The burgers are extremely large, and the hot cheese balls are pretty good, though the fries and chips are subpar. The cafe features a diverse crowd, making it an interesting and enjoyable place to visit, with an extremely charming atmosphere and sophisticated clientele during the day. Directly across from the library, it’s an excellent spot to read a book while having a pint or eating some of their affordable food. At night, it becomes an exciting, upbeat spot. The bartender Jan makes everyone feel like family. No smoking or vaping is allowed inside, but outdoor seating is available.
