I'm not sure if the server was busy or the restaurant was understaffed but it seemed to take a while for her to return. Refills were hard to get too
The food is decent but service is awful. What's the point of a reservation if you're seated 45 minutes after the time?
We went here before a show because it is so close to the Benedum Theatre, we did the reservation extra early because the last time we tried to eat here they never sat us, so for our 4:30 reservation we were finally sat at 5:45 because they overbooked. They said we would have food before our show but at 6:15 they came to our table and said no food would make it out because the kitchen was backed up and we should just cancel and leave. This is my third time trying to eat here and I have yet to ever have any food. Do not trust a reservation here as several other tables also walked out without food to make the show.
Went on a Saturday night for an 8:30 reservation. Wasn't crowded. It took nearly an hour to get our nachos and then the mains and sides showed up almost immediately after. Drinks also took incredibly long. Waitress was doing her best and clearly the food situation wasn't her fault but it was a very underwhelming experience. Chicken was great, the nachos came out cold but at that point we were ravenous so whatever. Sides weren't particularly memorable. The two other restaurants we ate at that weekend in the same area were heads and shoulders above this place so I'd look elsewhere if you're in this part of town.
Always good food quick and efficient service. Never had a bad meal. Service is always excellent. Very well run establishment !!
Atmosphere, food and pricing amazing for downtown. We had the most amazing waitress. We had an issue of missing our name called but they gave us the next available table!
Chicken is delicious. Mashed potatoes bangin. Cornbread yummy. Biscuits are also good except we had one that wasn't fully baked. Drinks were tasty. Service was excellent. Great place to eat before seeing a show at Benedum or Heinz Hall!
We had a delicious meal The problem was that it was not presented in a timely manner. We had a reservation for 2 people at 6PM and the food did not arrive until 7:05. We had tickets for a show at 7:30. We inquired about our meal twice and it still took way too long. The server was very nice, but I don't have enough trust that things will be different if we return. I don't usually complain, but this was an expensive night and an inconvenient one. Thank you.
We love The Eagle when we are heading to any Pittsburgh Cultural District activities. We know to always make reservations, as they are SUPER busy. We may need to add an extra 30 minute cushion, as they have been about 30 minutes late on our reservation over the last few months. Won't stop us from going!
We had a nice dinner before seeing a show in the Cultural District. We were seated upstairs for the first time and it was nice, but a little warm and didn't allow us to check out the activities on the main floor, which I was expected. The food was fantastic, as always. Very good ried chicken sandwich and salad. The fries were a bit underdone. The servers upstairs were good but they dropped a lot of things and sometimes left the things that were dropped on the floor, which I thought was a bit odd. We noticed outside a sign for happy hour specials and asked about them. The server wasn't very forthcoming about them or what they were. But we ordered the Happy Hour shot (which she hadn't mentioned when we asked and wasn't sure what it was) and were pleased to get a hefty shot of Bourbon for only $5. We've been here a number of times and will certainly be back for the food and the experience.

This was a busy football game night so I expected slower service and allotted for that. What I didn't expect was waiting for our food for forty minutes only to have it be cold when we received it. The flavor of the chicken was great but everything else was average. The collard greens were dripping in vinegar and the worst bite of the night. The hush puppies were by far the highlight.
The Eagle is a go-to for us when we have a group of people, since the menu has a nice variety of well liked comfort foods. There is plenty of seating, and prices are reasonable. The shareable sides are fun to try many dishes. Will be back!
Quarter Chicken both light an dark are very good. Salad choices also very good, I was able to request a change from the initially booked high top table to a low table. Service was very good.
Chicken, spoonbread, Mac and cheese. Wonderful flavors. The spoonbread is out of this world. I seek out fried chicken and this is at the top of the list. Service very attentive. Highly Recommend.

Today 11/23/25 I was waiting for the bus to go home. A young lady asked me if I was hungry and handed me a bag of Chicken BLT, Fries and Mashed Potatoes. She said she was the manager. Upon trying the food, It was delicious. I appreciated the food and the excellent customer service she provided to expand the business, that is a good business approach to bring in more clientele.
