The Urban Tap - Southside

We recently had dinner here to celebrate my future sister-in-law finding her dream wedding dress! We were all so excited because it was a first-visit for everyone + the menu looked 🔥

Unfortunately the room was So loud we could barely hear each other across the table, there were huge flies (looked like horse flies which bite) swarming us throughout the meal, there were many were covering the floor by the windows, and sadly the service left Much to be desired…

First off, the drinks menu failed to list Red Bull as a main ingredient in “Shipwrecked,” one of their specialty cocktails and the person who ordered it should not have caffeine due to a medication she’s taking— very dangerous!!!

Multiple orders at our table came out wrong and in fact one person in our party had to send back her entree because of an allergy which she explicitly shared about when ordering. To top it all off, the remake wasn’t rushed which meant she didn’t get her food until AFTER everyone else at the table was done eating… not to mention it came out cold. No apology given by the server either who was inattentive at best.

I will say: most of the food we had was delicious and the place was decently full of patrons so they’re clearly doing something right… I personally gave the food category a 4-star rating because my entree (the tuna appetizer) was phenomenal! I’ll be dreaming about it for weeks, I’m sure!

I’ll close with this: I’m not often one to leave a review for a less than 4 or 5 star experience because I know how Google reviews can impact a business (I’m a small business owner myself), but sometimes honest and constructive feedback leads to positive growth..

This was such a lucky find! The food was delicious and our server was awesome! The signature cocktails were also great. Definitely worth stopping if you're in the south side.

I went to the location on East Carson. It was busy to the waitress was already impatient. I tried to order a drink, and they were out despite it being just after open. Okay, fine. But the waitress was being so impatient with us that I just ordered ANY drink. Turns out to be a $20 drink that I didn’t even like. Whatever, I’ll get over it. I’d tried to order 2 different foods and they were out of both. At that point I closed my menu and gave up. I did contact the restaurant directly about this but never heard back, so review it is! I’d have loved if they made it right but clearly they weren’t interested.

Urban Tap on the SOUTHSIDE OF PITTSBURGH is a true gem for food lovers. I got the chicken biscuit and it did not disappoint—crispy, flavorful chicken on a perfectly baked biscuit with rich, savory gravy that tied it all together. Easily the best biscuits and gravy I’ve ever had. The staff was polite and engaging, and the vibe was spot-on: cozy, energetic, and inviting. Great spot for brunch or a laid-back night out.

I sweat through the entire meal, but the food was good. 83 degrees is a bit hot to enjoy shrimp and grits or chicken and waffles

Went for the Summerween themed brunch bc the past few themed brunches were 10/10. Giving 4 stars only because it was 85 degrees & humid outside & they didn’t seem to have tar AC on. It was HOT inside, we were dripping in sweat. But other than that everything was great. The service was awesome & the food was delicious! I ordered the shrimp & grits which was 10/10 I would order it again & again. We also ordered the waffle board which is always a great choice, I’m obsessed with the buttercream on top. Can’t wait for the next themed brunch!
