First time going to this location the bread is what makes the hoagie and the bread was just a normal bun was disappointed will not go back to this location.
Horrible experience. It took over an hour for us to get 2 subs. They had no organization and were calling people way out of order. Half the staff was just standing around. And we had to pay for fries to go when we were there long enough for it to be dine in. Oh yeah, and they are cash only. It’s 2025!
Disappointing. I got the Special Italian Sub. The description on the menu said “Loaded with extra cuts of Genoa salami capacolla, and provolone cheese”. This sandwich was not loaded with ANYTHING and with a small fountain soda came to $16.37

I love Sam's, have been coming to it for decades now. I don't get there as much since I moved out of Sq. Hill so getting back there was treat. Just as good as always.

Used to be a better price but less meat and higher prices. Lunch for one at $15-20 with fries and a drink. Still an amazingly good sub for pittaburgh area. Maybe I am getting old but I expect things to remain full with increased prices. Staff is still amazing and the cash only blue and white collar environment remains our Pittsburgh culture!

Shoe string fries are the best. The kids working the fry station can be rude and stingy with portions; it's consistently inconsistent but the fry quality is usually always there.
Best fries on the planet. Think McDonalds in the 80s good.

I love the food, but please update your hours online. Happy to lend a hand with this, if you don’t have someone to do so.
Best food I ever had in Pittsburgh.
Adjust your hours online to please they were wrong online
This was my favorite place to eat as an undergrad 15-20 years ago ❤️ Coming back for my reunion, I made sure to stop by here. A lot of places don’t live up to the hype in your head, but it’s as good as I remember, if not better! The fries are amazing and the subs are so good. Best place!
Uncle Sam’s is definitely a childhood/college favorite, but it's also a place I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone visiting Pittsburgh knowing that by any measure, the sandwiches (and simple, crisp shoestring fries) here are totally top notch.
Honestly, this place is as high on my list of "to do"s as is visiting old friends when we're in town. Never a let down, and the best cheesesteak I've had outside of Philadelphia, bar none. I miss the Oakland shop we frequented when at Pitt, but the remaining shops honor the delicious quality equally well, especially this squirrel hill location.
