My wife and I went for an early (and rare due to having younger kids) dinner date to Wei Lai on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was pretty empty save for some pick up orders when we were sat, but some folks started coming in by the time we were finishing. The decor deels modern and cute, with many Kawaii like pictures of food with faces, even down to some merch available for sale.

The staff was pleasant and attentive, even giving me some chili oil without asking when our dim sum arrived (note: I love spicy food and chili oil, but there's was one of the spiciest I have had at a restaurant or from an Asian grocer, so be warned, though I enjoyed it😅). The prices were kind of high for the area and for the portion sizes, but still very fair considering the current state of inflation and rising food costs.

My wife and I split a bowl of Dan Zai noodles, which were tasty and came with a very well done smoked egg, though I would personally have wanted a bit more more flavor in the dish (the aforementioned chili oil came to the rescue here). We then got the dim sum sampler platter and an order of pork soup dumplings (after we were told the weekend special dim sum we initially ordered was sold out). All of the dumplings were enjoyable and filling, not fully up to the level of The Parlor in Lawrenceville (a top dim sum spot in Pittsburgh), but still quite nice.

Overall, my wife and I enjoyed our trip to Wei Lai, and would be happy to go again, since it is a unique spot in the northern are of Pittsburgh proper, and isn't as hard to get into as other similar restaurants.

Pretty good dim sum. My main complaint is how the pork soup dumplings are steamed in little individual aluminum trays - because when I try to take them out to eat them they always break.

We try to come here at least once a week, and it’s consistently an incredible experience. The quality, service, and value are unmatched, and the food tastes truly authentic.

We love starting with appetizers. The pork belly bao and fried crystal dumplings are our absolute favorites—they're delicious every time. We've honestly never had a bad meal here.

This place was great but the place was empty when I was there which made me sad cause it deserves to be more popular! Filling yummy food for a reasonable price. I got the Taiwanese dan zai noodle soup and it was delicious. Highly recommend!

I'm glad we came here. Suggest the braised beef noodle soup, brown sugar milk with mangoes boba (had to switch because they were out of the boba it usually comes with), and the egg tarts, which may be the best I've eaten in the United States. For the price, portion sizes are excellent. Service that is friendly and attentive. I will most certainly return.

Server recommended the special of the day, which was the roast duck (烤鸭)! Glad I went with the suggestion. Paired with white rice and served in Taiwanese style with boiled egg and yellow pickled radish and veggies. Highly recommend the dish.

If you can handle spicy, ask for the chilli oil to dip your duck in.

Got to practice my Chinese that I’ve been studying for the past few years 🤙. Great authentic Chinese food.

Food was very poor quality. The chicken was gummy and not appetizing at all. The bao buns were gross and had someone hair on one of the buns. Truly disappointing considering we love Dim Sum.

Got the spicy wonton noodle lunch special with crab rangoon and it did not disappoint! I usually get their boba (which is very high quality I must say) but the food is amazing too. Such a steal and it comes with the choice of a soda or soup. Will definitely be returning :)

Always a great experience, as a nursing student I don’t have a lot of time but when I come here the service is always efficient and the workers are so kind. High quality boba even though it’s not their specialty.
