I spent $43 for 2 pieces of fish, 3 wings, store bought mac and cheese, and dry yams.
Owner was decent but talking did not march the cooking. Suggest another soulfood spot... soul4kitchen right up the street.

The food was perfect. Catfish and whiting with greens and yams as sides were just perfect. The owner/chef did everything and was extremely attentive and friendly. The restaurant is underground thus it's not a 5-star location, but they have done a good job with the space they have. They seem mostly a takeout place, but the food is great

You could easily walk by this place and disregard it—a restaurant in the basement of an apartment building? But you'd be wrong. Literally a mom and pop operation, it should be your go-to spot for soul food in the city. Chicken is tender, moist and perfection. Collards are juicy, flavorful, and just the right amount of savory kick. Mac-n-cheese is as close to heaven in earth as I can imagine. (And I'm a Christian pastor.) The owners are delightful and service-forward AND you'll get a blessing with your food. Bring cash and tip well!
