✨ Yoshino – Walnut Street’s gem ✨
If you're craving sushi and sashimi that taste like they were flown in straight from Ocean, Yoshino delivers. Every dish is a masterpiece, from the fresh Japanese-style oysters to the artful plating (no spoilers, you’ll want to see it in person).
Surprise hits: the phat thai and fried rice. I braced for the usual sugary overload, but Yoshino’s chef nailed the savory balance. It’s rare to find Asian fusion this well-executed.
The ambiance? Calm and perfect for real conversation, especially when hosting out-of-town guests. It’s our go-to spot for good food and good company.
Only wish: they served plum wine to round out the experience. Still, it’s a solid 5/5. Highly recommended 🥢💫

I ordered sushi on Aug 1 that was advertised on their website for $16. I went to pick up my order and saw I was charged $19. I showed the owner the price they had advertised on the website and they didn’t honor it because they said they had updated their prices. The right thing to do would’ve been to honor the price they had online since that’s what’s advertised. I found this to be ethically wrong so for that reason I’ll never order there again.

One word: WOW. My family and I came to this restaurant for a nice, family night out. Little did we know, we were in for a treat. We were greeted by a little projection on the floor outside, and we walked in thinking it was a normal sushi place. We had called, so the staff greeted us and showed us our table. We were immediately given waters, and we ordered other drinks. They came surprisingly fast. Another thing I took note of while sitting there was that the place was surprisingly empty. Barely anyone was there, and it was a Friday night. We ordered our food and the appetizers came pretty fast. We ordered the egg roll, Crab Rangoon, and ginger salad. They were amazing, and you could tell all the condiments were homemade. About five minutes after we finished appetizers, the entree came. To put it simply, I was stunned. As far as I was concerned, it wasn’t food; it was art. I cannot describe it any better, so I’ve attached the image of the food. We ordered the tuna roll, salmon roll, tuna a la carte, masago a la carte, salmon roe a la carte, the Steelers roll, the Mount Everest roll, and escolar sashimi. My favorite was by far the Steelers roll. It was probably some of the best food I’ve ever put into my mouth, and it was definitely the best sushi. The price of it isn’t bad either. It’s about $10 for a simpler roll, and around $15-20 for a more complex one. It’s definitely worth it. After the first round, we decided we wanted some more. We ordered more escolar sashimi and the Monster roll (without jalapeño, because I don’t really like those!). These were, as expected, AMAZING.
Overall, this was a 10/10 experience. The staff were very friendly and kind, the food was phenomenal, and the ambiance was calm. I would definitely recommend this. If you’re in Pittsburgh and you’re craving sushi, come to this place. It is 100% worth it, and you will not be let down.

We got the fried rice. There was a bug in my rice. The chicken was horrible and the rice seemed old. They just took it back and offered a new one. We were incredibly upset and both ended up throwing up very soon after our experience.
