Amazing food and terrific service. The cooks had mistaken our food for someone else’s, so we waited a bit for our food, however we were compensated with an excellent dessert. I really appreciate the hospitality.
Went there for happy hour and food. Great food and affordable prices. Limited vegetarian options. Naanwich was interesting.
Fantastic place! Fried pickle appetizer is great! The brisket grilled cheese with fresh cut fries was so delicious. Banoffee pie is to die for! Service was just as amazing. Rachel was my server and she was phenomenal! Very attentive and nice. If you are looking for a great place a few miles outside of State College, this is it!
Miserable waitress, cook in pajamas, mediocre food from a menu that's trying too hard. Someone put this place out of its misery.
Brisket grilled cheese was vile, server was horribly inattentive. Overall pathetic service and experience. Ambience was nice,
food and their cocktails were not good at all.
No ruebens on St Patrick's day, I was looking forward to one 😞 we had drinks tho. Bar maid was super friendly
My husband and I had the smashburger. We loved it! Fresh made beef patty with great sauce and bun. Will order it again. Served with nice dark crispy potato chips. Also had fresh cut fries. Equally as delicious! Old house convertedinto bar restaurant. Rustic look. Nice and clean.
We had a party of 6 seated quickly with our reservation. Drinks were good but slow, and then the food took a very long time. Much of our food was cold upon arrival as if it was waiting to be given to us and it's up sending back some of it to be warmed up. Overall fairly tasty cuisine with interesting flavor combinations. Sad. There's not a kids meal menu as I ended up having to buy full size portions for my two kids which of course was wasted. Wish a side salad was an option instead of chips.
Dessert was definitely the highlight of the evening. We tried every pie and none disappointed.
In town visiting & had dinner with my folks. Very clean & cozy place! Everything was delicious & Kenna is an absolute star. She knew the menu, made sure we had all we needed & seemed to enjoy her craft. Will definitely be back again!
Very nice & cozy little tavern! The food was delicious! Their Beer Cheese is super good too! It’s like a whipped beer cheese! Loved it! Everything we ordered was great!! My daughter loved the ramen bowl so much! Our server/bartender was very nice and attentive!! Definitely will go back, if we’re in the area!

Date night at Red Horse Tavern was a spectacular hit! The outside of the building deceives the gem of a dining experience that waits inside. We were seated quickly in the warm and cozy dining room, Rachel, our friendly and attentive server, brought water and drinks quickly, $5.00 Margarita 😊! My salad, was fresh, tasty and just the right starter size even if I did have to pick off the onions, Hubby’s Taco appetizer was delicious and the cutest little Tacos ever! He was extremely pleased with his Brisket Grilled Cheese and my Plucky Pepper Pretzelwich was fantastic! We both look forward to returning!
A lovely young couple purchased this dive and transformed it into something really special. Everyone raves about the pie, but the rest of the menu is outstanding. I recommend anything with a Peruvian flare.
Food was excellent!
Great place with good food menu. Wish they had a better beer draft list.
Can't wait to come back and try more great menu items.
