Today was the first day in 15 yrs. that I had food here. It was a Cali burger & fries. For first time in a long time I actually finished the food. The meal was great. I’ll definitely have to remember this place when the family’s trying to decide where to eat.

The simple way to descibe Gramma's is that it is an old fashion diner. However this would not even begin to give you an idea of the quality and imaginative menu at this Pottsville staple. Earlier this year a new manager took over and during the times when all restaurants were completly shut down, he took the opportunity to breath some new life into the place, while still keeping on the ever popular dishes. You will find old fashion favorites such as hot turkey or roast beef sandwiches, meat loaf, macaroni and cheese and of course burgers. But be prepared to have the "best" of many of these classic dishes. Take for instance the meat loaf. It is thick cut, served with a delicious gravy that has a strong beef flavor, but a slight, tangy taste that lingers on the palate. Order it with a side of mashed potatoes and corn and you will be in heaven. The macaroni and cheese is smooth as velvet with a definate but not overpowering cheese sauce. It is served with a side of stewed tomatoes. If you are anthing like me, your first impression is, WHAT?, but once you taste the combination, the only way to describe it s scrumptious. The surprise at Gramma's are the unexpected items you find on the menu, the Cubano sandwich, the grilled South of the Border chicken and the imaginative twist to good ole burgers. To top things off, why not give an old fashion milk shake or malted a try. The tubs of fresh ice cream can seduce anyone to give them a try. Staff is welcoming, friendly and helpful. There is ample social distancing but you can always arrange delivery or pick up. We have come as a couple, with friends and with family. Age groups running the span of 10 to 70 and everyone always finds something to whoop about. Gramma's evokes the slower paced days of a bygone age, but the inventive menu and merging of old and new items works perfectly.

I remember dining at Gramma’s back in the 90’s when I was a kid. Over the years, I’d always go for New England clam chowder and mac n’ cheese Fridays. Those were essentially the only menu items I ordered. Their other food was also good but nothing topped their mac.Now that it’s under new ownership, I’ve noticed the prices are considerably higher for much of the same menu items. They have diversified the menu a lot, which is awesome. Unfortunately, the mac n’ cheese just isn’t the same. It’s close! Decent, but not the Gramma’s recipe I used to know. Is that enough for me to stop ordering from them? No. But I’d be lying if I said I’m not disappointed.**If you’re not familiar with this area, there is additional parking on the road behind the restaurant. Their main parking lot is very small.

I normally love Gramma's. However, I called to make my order and the phone was picked up and slammed down on me. I called back and someone picked up, was nasty then hung up on me. We got to the restaurant to pick up our order and witnessed one of the ladies behind the counter picking up the phone and slamming it down. I understand if you are busy and possibly cant pick up at that moment, but there is no need for that.
