McCoole's at the Historic Red Lion Inn

While the service was delight, the waitress was amazing, they were OUT of nearly a QUARTER of the menu. When asked for our appetizers the two most popular where ‘out’. It is Sunday at 5:00. They were out of french bread so if you ordered a french dip it was going to be on a hamburger bun. They were out of one of their desserts. A waitress at the next table repeatedly said ‘I hadn’t tried it but I assume…’. The waitress at our table said ‘That comes with green beans, is that okay?’ And when I said no, that i was allergic, there were NO OTHER VEGGIES IN THE PLACE besides Brussel sprouts. Literally not even like a carrot. They were out of one of their beers and happy hour ‘could not be served inside’ it had to be outside? I got the strawberry short cake cheese cake which was a strawberry short cake with about a quarter of an inch of cheesecake on top. Husband had crab cakes and he said they were a bit bland with almost no garnishments (some tarter sauce and no lemon) however the filet was very good. The mashed potatoes where middle of the road, either over beaten or frozen at some point.
All in all, much too expensive to get our second or third choice off the menu.

Absolutely amazing place to eat! Food was delicious, history of the location only added to the atmosphere and service was top notch. Highly recommend!!

i already left a bad review on Google months ago and left it alone then got an invite to like this place in fb. no no way. I decided to do my wedding dinner here i had a very small wedding. the service was horrible 2 of the orders were wrong, the servers were miserable and seemed agitated we had children. we got no apology for the wrong order and paid over 800 bucks for an all around horrible time. they just started the whole dogs dining thing. I wouldnt even take my dog here!

I have diet restrictions, and the waitress and chef were very accommodating. My salmon was delicious, and my husband's steak was tender and cooked just right.

Alright so many of you been asking who Gabe is, I'll show you who he is :) Have you seen Gabe? you may ask "whos gabe"? well Gabe is a friend who walked alone In the woods he thought that he would make bank with the money he had, but no ohhhh no, he only had $5 and it was from the United kingdom, so he had to walk out of the woods to find a bank, he got to the bank and asked if he could get the $5 in USD they said no, cause its from a different country, anyways he was only 12 when this happened now he's 16.5 years old, he also likes books, he would walk out deep in the woods are then read a book I don't know why, but whatever he likes is him, "who's him" Great question! Him is a word of a word oh he, Now Gabe is a he, like her, her is a word of a word of she, get it I know I'm funny! hahahah, Anyways, Gabe walked walked walked and talked talked talked, until he found a guy named John now this guy loves to walk walk walk and talk talk talk, Gabe never met John, only on radio, anyways Gabe loved a park named dorney, Dorney is a park of a park that is a bigger then a park, tho I don't know, I only been there for a little while, its ok tho, cause Gabe likes dorney, Gabe hasn't said anything on the radio let, I just wanted you to know that he might be gone, Im gonna go look for him now, goodbye..

Food is already relatively expensive - quality is relatively good. Charging a credit card fee at an establishment with an average check size over $100 is an immediate one star review. Passing that charge onto customers is unacceptable.

Had a lovely dinner here. We met friends on a Saturday night. I had the signature crab cake platter and my wife had the fish and chips. I had their winter Manhattan which was well made and my wife had a vodka and pineapple, which was also enjoyed. Service was excellent and did not rush us. Menu offered a good variety of choices. I would not hesitate to recommend this eatery.

Walked in and the hostess seemed bothered didn’t stand up to speak Walked to the bar found our own seat at a countertop Went to the bar and nobody waited on us stood up tried to get bartenders attention Bartenders just talking away to two guys Another waitress sitting down right near us talking Another waitress talking Finally someone else came out and waited on us. Way too long Way too many people just sitting around talking to their friends The bartender obviously couldn’t be bothered to wait on anyone other than the same two guys.

What an absolute gem. Cannot believe it has taken me this long to check it out

The food was just OK our server was fine but it took forever to get our drinks and to get our food. It was very loud and it was hard to have a conversation with friends. Not sure if I would ever go back Due to how loud it was inside.

wonderful and different menu selection. clam chowder was amazing. also never had such a delicious chicken salad sandwich. service was great! we highly recommend.

Beautiful warm and charming ambiance, excellent service, tasty food, and generous portions.

Clam Chowder was huge and could’ve been a meal on its own. I wish the broth was a bit thicker, but the flavour is good.

Crab cakes main plate was very tasty. The cakes were100% crab meat with ZERO filler. The mashed potatoes were very good, and the sauce was a nice touch to the crab cakes.

Tried the Winter Old Fashioned and it was a generous pour, and packed a nice punch. I just wished it was slightly sweeter.

Everyone at the table enjoyed their food and would recommend McCoole’s to anyone in the area.

Old historic building with sub par food. Haven't been able to understand what good food is for years. Overpriced as well. Way better places in the area.
