It's like walking into a pub in London... a different world. Fantastic. The food out of this world, from the Scotch egg to the Shepherd's Pie. Drinks were perfect, service was outstanding. We miss this restaurant SO MUCH, especially after we had a terrible experience at Judy's. Bring back the Hen!!

The atmosphere, food, and drinks here are rare to be found. I definitely recommended checking it out. Seating is very small, which can have a cool vibe to it. The fireplace is awesome!
Delicious food! Atmosphere is amazing! Drinks are great. Cannot say enough great things about the Speckled Hen. Ambiance is so unique, wood burning fireplace... perfection! Cozy in an urban setting. Give it a go!

Went for my 24th birthday tonight and it was excellent!! The server was on top of everything and super sweet! There was 11 of us and we always had a full drink and nothing was messed up! Such a great little place in Reading! And they sat us right next to the fire place! And everything on the menu is delicious!

The Speckled Hen is a must visit. First, it's a very neat restaurant in an old log cabin. It's dimly lit and on the more formal side of the pub spectrum. I started out with a Guinness which was actually poured in the correct fashion which makes a large impact. For an app I ordered the scotch egg. I was glad to see the inside of the egg was not well done. For my entree I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was definitely fresh and the meal was very good. You can tell they take pride in the restaurant.

The atmosphere is very cozy, but my fiance and I ended up waiting an hour for our food. There are no starters that accompany a dinner entree, so I wouldn't recommend going there if you're already really hungry because you're going to wait. I wouldn't say the prices are high, but my fiance ordered the shepherds pie and the dish it came in was tiny (maybe 5" by 3") and he left hungry. I ordered the home made mac and cheese with seafood, the dish was slightly larger but in no way was this mac and cheese. It was more like oily noodles with dried out baked cheese on top of the pile of oily noodles. And I still can't figure out why this took an hour to make
A delightful little pub, great food, and friendly staff. I really enjoyed the quaint atmosphere! Indefinitely recommend this place for a relaxing evening during the dark winter nights.
