Thank god! As a Philadelphia transplant for 8 years, we have endured mediocre pizza, cheesesteaks that automatically get sauce and onions and pirogies as a side dish in this area. Steaks were excellent (not with sauce and onions) on a real roll. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Spenny's is like a slice of Philly transplanted into the Reading region. Their cheesecakes are awesome as are their french fries. I especially love their vanilla shakes which have a wholesome, fresh from the dairy, taste that can't really be replicated anywhere else in Berks County. The atmosphere is full. of Philly sports memorabilia although I think, by law, they are required to also serve Dallas Cowboy fans.

Let me just say that I finally found a cheesesteak in this area that actually tasted like a Philly cheesesteak!!! Food is fresh well seasoned and the atmosphere feels like family. Very nice, warm and welcoming !!! The owner helped me out with my food and always greets whoever walks through the door. I just wish they would offer a regular pizza cheese pie. The upside down is good don’t get me wrong but I’m more in to regular pizza. I also do like that spenny fries because they mix the old bay with the cheese sauce instead of overly seasoning the fries with the old bay!!! Very smart!!! You can tell they use good quality ingredients!!! My fave cheesesteak is the Philly jawn but I add pickles and sweet peppers !!! It’s about time because I thought I would never find a Philly cheesesteak in reading. Go get you one !!!!
Was looking for a good philly cheesesteak to eat, Im a native & ive been craving something similar to del rossi’s or Jims steaks. Unfortunately philly is the only place to get a good genuine cheesesteak.
Ordered the classic jawn with cooper sharp cheese fried onions & longhots. Service was fast & speedy, didn’t wait no longer than 10-12mins for food.
Sandwich itself wasnt bad 3/5 but i prefer good seeded roll, bread was a lil chewy for my liking. No lacing or sear on ribeye, onions & peppers were cooked well. It was an underwhelming cheesesteak but not a bad one.
Ordered a side of fries with crab cheese dip those were good. Only bad part was the fries were unsalted tho, only flavor came from the dip.

Best cheese steak I've had in quite a while! Loved the roll, meat was great, and plenty of cooper sharp. The tots were nice and crispy... I like that! Comfortable cool little place, with doggie bag items you don't have to wait for. Everything is out for you to wrap your leftovers without waiting.
