Recently had lunch here. The staff was friendly and attentive but the diner was a bit dirty. We ordered panini sandwiches and were surprised to find that they weren't actually panini's. They weren't grilled or cooked on a panini press which is what makes a sandwich a panini. They also were not served on ciabatta, focaccia, or a baguette as one would expect from a panini. Instead they were served on a soft hamburger bun that hadn't been toasted. The construction looked rather sloppy, and they were in essence poorly made chicken sandwiches that were kind of bland and used low quality ingredients. In short, the menu didn't deliver what it had promised. On the bright side the diner did have exceptionally good French fries. That said, with so many other good places to eat on Penn Ave. I won't be back.

UPDATE! I returned to this restaurant, now named “American Diner.” I ordered the same thing as before. Eggs, home fries, turkey bacon and grits. I also ordered a New York strip steak because that is what my bestie ordered on my last visit. Upon arrival I was immediately taken to my seat. There were plenty of other customers there as well on this Sunday morning. My servers name is Samantha. A very beautiful melanated woman who just happens to look like Clarissa Shields the current GWOAT of female boxing. She was one of the nicest and prettiest servers I’ve had. She was on top of her job and did it very well. There were no problems with my order and she asked several times throughout if I needed anything else. I dove into the grits first because that’s why I was there. I added butter, salt & pepper than dove in and to my surprise, they tasted a lot better than before. The previous time, they weren’t edible, but this time they were so I dug in. I cut the steak and ate a piece and noticed that it was a little tough and it needed more seasoning, but it wasn’t bad at all. I just added some table seasoning and some A1 sauce and everything was fine. The real test was eating the grits with the eggs and bacon I ordered. Well, I ate everything on the table and not once had to ask for a replacement or for something to be made over. It was cool sailing once my food hit the table. No, their grits aren’t the best and still need some work, but they are edible now and will not disappoint those who love them as much as I do. I was impressed with the cooks because the restaurant was packed and my meal was not under or over cooked. Everything turn out great considering how packed it was. I’ve taken the luxury of adding more stars to this review for atmosphere, food, service & overall quality. My name BigDaveIsFat says it all. “Get Your Grub On” folks! Check out the pictures below!“My first review! The grits were the nastiest I've ever attempted to eat. I sent them back seconds after they hit the table. My friends steak was 85 % fat/gristle making it next to impossible to eat. I am a superior grit maker and I suggested they remove this item from their menu until their staff learns how to prepare them properly. The grits you see in this picture were made me. Creamy with #NoLumps”

I would never ever go back to this place or recommend it not ever!!! The food was tasteless and after I drowned it with salt I couldn’t eat it because our waitress kept coming over and she was talking over my food which made me nauseous and upset you can’t talk over people’s food you don’t know what’s falling out your mouth…and please don’t call your Nutella pancakes stuffed Nutella pancakes because they aren’t stuffed with Nutella you just put some Nutella on top of the pancake smh
