Sign of the Horse Restaurant and Brewery

I used to live in the area and have been coming to this location for over a year. Sometimes I’d visit for months at a time, other times for a few days or weeks, and I’ve always enjoyed the food and service.

I recently ordered the Seafood Mac and noticed they changed the pasta. The new pasta is okay, but I personally liked it better when they used cavatappi. The sauce also seemed different this time—it had a seafood flavor but only contained shrimp.

I probably wouldn’t have left a review over the food changes alone, but the service during my visit today was disappointing. I always order for pickup, and in the past the staff would bring the order to the counter. Today, the employee checked my order from a distance and told me I could grab it myself. That may be a new procedure, but it felt less welcoming than usual.

I also asked for utensils because they typically aren’t included in pickup orders. I was told they were already in the bag, but when I checked, they weren’t. The employee then had to go get them.

These are small issues individually, but together they made this visit feel different from the experience I’ve had here in the past. The food and service just didn’t seem to be at the same level I’ve come to expect over the last year. I hope this was just an off day because I’ve always enjoyed coming here. But cleanliness never seems to disappoint either they are very clean

We visit Sign of the Horse in Red Lion frequently! Always excellent food, friendly service, and fun atmosphere! They have also generously hosted a fundraiser for our nonprofit every year with excellent results! This place is just what Red Lion needed! Be sure to check out their amazing back patio, live music, and special events! One of our absolute favorite local spots!

Sign of the Horse is hands down one of the best places in Red Lion, and not just because of their food. The Red Lion Swim Booster Club meets here regularly, and Sign of the Horse has hosted multiple fundraiser nights for the swim team. Our end of season banquet for the high school team was also held here. The food is always fantastic, we adore our favorite server Jerry, and their support of the community and our student athletes is stellar! Connor and I had a miscommunication early on (my fault) but it was very easily resolved. He has always responded to my emails and phone calls. Sign of the Horse will always have the support of the swim community.

On April 30 the Sign of the Horse held a fundraiser for our partnership - Nexterus and Penn-Mar Human Services. WOW - I cannot say enough good things about this!! We were given an area to set up our information, a table by the window, and space to take pictures.

The food was fantastic, as was the service. We had such a great time kicking off Give Local York! Connor Wilson is the best! Very easy to work with. I highly recommend The Horse for your next fundraising event.

Giving back to the community is very special, and The Sign of the Horse prides themself in this service.

Came back to Sign of the Horse and so glad I did. The staff is so friendly. I had steamed shrimp, salad and then pretzel sticks. Everything was delicious. Good for local brews! Conor the manager is awesome! If you see him give him a hard time for me!

I honestly can’t remember ever having to wait so long for food.
Not the end of the world and the food was decent, but a simple “sorry for the wait, we’re a little backed up and are short-handed” or something along those lines would have gone a long way - not a word from the waitress.
We only had 3 people in our party and 2 of them ordered appetizers.

I’ve been to this restaurant quite a few times and the food is always good. Beer selection is great. I have yet to try a food item or beer that I didn’t enjoy. Atmosphere is inviting and the staff is friendly. Keep up the great work!
