A few months ago, I would have given Commonwealth a 5/5 on all fronts. An excellent cafe with great food and drinks for an affordable cost and lots of space to do work and meet friends in the middle of downtown?? Wow! I didn't know you could check all the boxes! I have been coming here since they opened a few years ago and would recommend to all of my friends for the reasons above. Unfortunately, since my last visit, they have crammed nearly 20 slot machines into the cafe, removing a large amount of seating, and the warm, comforting atmosphere. I'd let this pass if there were 2 or 3 machines, but 20!? I'm not sure why they have done this since I haven't seen anyone using the machines. In fact I saw an elderly couple leave without ordering making a comment about the machines. Very odd and ruins what I, and I think I speak for many others, used to love about the cafe. I will still support as best as I can, but it's difficult to do so with the new "decor."
I'd like to note I really don't complain or write negative reviews, but I'm disappointed to see what had become of what used to be my favorite cafe in Scranton.

The one cashier was extremely rude to me and raised his voice by me simply asking a question on the lattes. I have never been here before and I don’t feel comfortable going back because of how I was treated. The service was so bad and I stood there for like 5 minutes just waiting for someone to talk to me to ask my order.. he looked at me annoyed when he finally answered me. Also mind you there was no line at all.

I came here a while back and enjoyed the food and atmosphere so I decided to try it again for a quick bite to eat. The employee working was very kind and friendly! However, the atmosphere is just odd. There are gambling machines spread through out which made for a very confusing/ weird atmosphere. This place is confusing as to what it is (cafe, gambling games, and boutique?) just overall felt odd and uncomfortable. I don’t think I will be returning but I wish them success!

This isn’t a coffee house. It’s a casino with gambling machines that serves coffee. There are no outlets to plug any devices in. They are all being used by the slot machines. Hard to support local when this is the case.

Such a nice cozy coffee shop! so comfy inside. Employees are very friendly and helpful. I ordered a Breakfast Banderita with roasted red peppers. DELICIOUS! Will definitely be ordering from here again and again :)

Super cute spot with some absolutely phenomenal smelling coffee. Interior is open and airy while still being inviting. Unfortunately, my iced matcha drink was very watery from the get-go. I ordered with almond milk, so it shouldn't have been that thin. Their food is fresh and made to order and smells amazing in the space.
Dietary restrictions: Alternative milks available for those who can't have dairy.
Parking: There is no parking lot here, just street parking. Depending on the time of day that block can get very busy.

My new go-to coffee shop in Scranton! It is conveniently located to most places I frequent.They have their own house blend coffee, and every other type out there for half the price! A cozy couch you can sit down on to read and relax... Some very cool items and handmade trinkets for sale as well... The food smelled deliciously tempting!
