Every once in a while, you stumble upon a restaurant that completely surprises you in the best way possible. Mangia Bistro and Bar in Scranton has quickly become my go-to spot whenever I'm in town. In fact, on my most recent visit, I went twice in just three days ...it's that good and everyone that I brought along agreed with me. Let's start with the Chicken Martini, which I've now had twice (3 times if you count me stabbing my fork onto others' plates). Lightly dusted with parmesan, it's incredibly tender and full of flavor. I wish I could figure out how to replicate it at home. My friend raved about her linguini with clam sauce topped with plenty of steamed clams in their shells. I “encouraged” my son to order the pappardelle bolognese just so I could try it, and I'm already planning to get it for myself next time. Rich, savory, and perfectly balanced, my mouth waters just thinking about it. My step-dad had the paella valenciana and could not stop talking about it the next day. It was full of all of the best things! Now, the calamari appetizer deserves a spotlight of its own. I live near the beach and have tried my fair share, but Mangia's calamari is on another level. Crispy, incredibly tender, and flavorful. I've had it three times, and it's never chewy and disappointing. Even the appetizers impressed across the board. And let me tell you, I'm not typically a pork chop fan, but my uncle's Pork Chop Calabrese special was so tender and flavorful, I'd choose it over many steaks I've had. If it's ever on the menu again, I won't hesitate. We finished with a few of their desserts, the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic meal. Oh, and they have great cocktails! Mangia Bistro and Bar is a standout in Scranton's dining scene. I wish we had one in Va Beach. The chef clearly has a deep understanding of flavor and technique, and it shows in every dish. This place is truly a hidden gem and a refreshing break from the usual local spots.
Amazing! Food, atmosphere, drinks and staff were incredible. I'd call it a hidden gem ... but it shouldn't remain hidden. GO EAT HERE!
Just found it on Open Table at the right price point in good proximity of the Hideout. Everything was excellent....service, including constant filling of waster sand replenishment of bread and food quality and portions were great. Worth a visit. Would definitely visit again.
Everything is fantastic! From the cocktails, to the salad, to the dinner..... and the cocktails! 🍸 Loved every bit of it. Highly recommend!
The chicken martini was the best chicken I ever had … Everything we had was excellent
excellent food. Service may be best in area as they treat you like they've known you forever.
Me and my party were very satisfied with all of our orders. I got one of the specials that our waiter recommended and it was very good. Very nice atmosphere and staff was super friendly. Definitely look forward to returning!

The drinks and the dinner were absolutely amazing. I had the pumpkin spice White Russian, the butternut squash ravioli, and the stuffed mushroom appetizer and I could not have hoped for a better experience. The fall flavors were so excellent and welcome on this chilly day. I stuck to all the specials tonight, after trying and enjoying many of the regular menu items. The service was absolutely exceptional. The dining room was busy but everything was so smooth and the staff was so welcoming and attentive. Will be here frequently

We had their specials- butternut squash ravioli & Branzino with shrimp & vegetables. Both were delicious! Our servers were knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was very relaxing. We will be going back!
My family and I have had the pleasure of dining here twice. Each time both the service and food were excellent. I’ve tried the chicken parm, the lobster bisque & shrimp pappardelle in a pink brandy sauce special.
The crème brûlée was perfect.
I can’t wait to eat my leftovers for lunch and even more excited for our next dining experience at Mangia’s!
