Bamse is absolutely one of the coolest looking coffee shops we have been to. Plus there is a museum Inside as well. **We were told when we were there on November 27th that they were closing their doors**I'm actually very sad to hear this. The character, and architecture alone should be enough to keep this spot open. Stop going to Dunkin and Starbucks and support your local businesses! We got espresso shots, an Americano, and a mango tango freshly brewed ice tea. Everything was pretty delicious, and the baristas were absolutely amazing. Very helpful, and kind...stood there and gave us some info on the place. We drove 2hrs specifically to come here, and it was not a disappointment.

Go just for the experience of checking out the building. Service was nice. It was super busy on a Sunday morning. I wish they had a larger selection of quick pastries to buy. The building is spectacular.

This is a great place for your coffee fix. The coffee is great and reasonably priced. They have specialty drinks as well. The inside is worth taking some time to enjoy your cup of Joe. Big comfortable chairs and couches around the room. Stained glass from the days gone by color the walls. There is a Shamokin museum in the back that is cool on its own. And the best part, for all of you dog lovers out there, you can bring Fido in with you. They have treats for them as well. Bamse is hidden nugget in this town. Check them out. I believe you will enjoy it as well.

I was staying in Shamokin for a few days and this came up when doing a quick search for coffee places, as well as a recommendation from our Airbnb host. I was intrigued about the fact that this was in a church! The coffee was great too. I'll keep this in mind next time I come back to the area.

This place is almost unbelievable. The coffee is great, the ambiance of the old church is fun, the staff are friendly. There’s a museum in the back that is like a time capsule, we spent an hour in there and could have spent way more time in there. The fact that this place exists makes me happy. My friends and I can’t wait to go back.

It’s a really cozy and wonderful coffee shop in Shamokin. Their pastries are SO fresh and delicious. Quite and friendly place to study or bring your laptop and work here. Top of all these, pets are allowed a bonus point. They also have some historical demos in the other room, and wonderful to check them if you stop by.

Vegan options were definitely limited as when I was there (yesterday), there were no baked goods but this wrap was exactly what I needed after a busy day in the ED!!! Grabbed some coffee ( oat milk!) and enjoyed the vibe here for a bit before the shift and got the sandwich to go. Didn’t get to eat lunch until 4pm but dang it was tasty!

Only one of the items in the baked goods case was marked “vegan” (a cheesesteak wrap). Two staff had to verify with others that the rest were indeed vegan, but all allergens were clearly listed on each item. They were out of oat milk on my visit, but other plant options available. Neat place to spend some time reading a book. Will be back.

Excellent service. Very spacious. Yummy cookies! This was a quick stop treat for my grandsons. We will definitely do it again.

My husband and I went there today to try their boba drinks out. We had high hopes and all the reviews were great! I don't know if it was just our batch or what but it was undrinkable. The boba was hard and unable to be chewed, and the drink was unbelievably bitter. I will also mention that their "large" is the smallest large I've ever seen. I would not recommend going there for boba, maybe their other drinks are good, but we won't be going back unfortunately.

Best. Coffee. Place. Ever! If you want to hang out and just drink coffee with friends or loved ones, this is the spot. It’s never noisy, the dogs there are so friendly, there’s books, board games, and even candles that you can buy. I love this place so much, i always tip them. They deserve it!Dine in: Yes

There are only a handful of vegan options in this area. Any business that offers them needs all the publicity they can get. Bamse has been open for over a year at the time of this review. They recently added vegan baked items such as scones, coffee cake and brownies. Vegan items are noted. They seem to aways switch up their selections so there are always different choices. They blend their own coffee and have several blends and also offer a few vegan creamers such as coconut and almond milk. There are plenty of lounging areas to read and relax in the former sanctuary. Also be sure to check out the small Shamokin museum located in the rear room along with a small record shop. Parking is located along the creek, not the small lot next to "the 99 steps". Dog friendly.
