After being there 60 minutes, our meals still weren’t ready, we had to leave and get gas-station hot-dogs so we wouldn’t be late to our event. It was very disappointing. Waitress was very kind and offered soup or salad to go. We just left.
Tuesday September 19, 2023 I witnessed the most unprofessional confrontation between the apparent manager, David & one of the servers He approached her while she was talking to guests, interrupted them and began degrading her to the guests We overheard him tell the guests not to tip her. No one should be treated that way It was apparent that she was very busy & I saw no one else helping her throughout the duration of our visit & we were happy with the service she gave us Later we overheard him talking badly about the kitchen staff to other guests His behavior was disgusting and I was embarrassed in front of my guests This is the third time I have been there and witnessed him being demeaning to the staff My colleagues and myself will not be returning as long as David holds a position there
Nice bar, good beer. Thats where it ends. Waited 90 minutes for subpar food, some of us couldn’t even cut into the burned crab cake which when finally cut was really a bread crumb cake. The potato chips were soft and stale, over spiced. The crab “cup” of soup arrived in a half filled, greasy topped cup with a teaspoon utensil. Friend ordered the italian panini and instead of enjoying the theater after, spent her tickets in the restroom. Was still sick the next day. Our other friends were so hungry after waiting so long choked down cold and dry burgers. We asked to speak to the manager, but there was no one in charge that night. The poor servers were run ragged trying to keep up and apologize. People started walking out. We should have done that earlier, but this town is sadly in need of some decent options.
Had lunch with my sister across the street at Monterrey. Decided to grab a coffee somewhere to sit and talk. Since it was close we chose University Grille. I have been wanting to try this place having lived in the area for almost six years now. We each got a cup of coffee on the patio. We also ordered two draft beers. When the check arrived I was shocked. The beers were to be expected but the coffees were $6.85 each for an 8oz cup of mediocre java. The waitress brought cream, but no sugars and never asked. Not to mention all the chairs were weathered and dingy looking. Scratched this place off my list....
Do not eat at this place unless you like to wait almost 2 hours for your food. We had a big crowd of around 30 or so. The food would come out 4 plates at a time for over an hour. Most everyone had finished their meals as others finally got theirs. Then mine finally came out last and they didn't have my side dish. I canceled my order. Poor service. Will never ever eat there and will tell everyone I can think of to avoid this place. Way too over priced. The bad thing out of this was I had to waste $100 since my kids ate. In the end I found a better place to eat. The waitress was very unapologetic. I was also mad because they give themselves a 20 % tip and I most likely wouldn't have given her a dime as she didn't earn it
We sat out in the back patio in the beautiful weather. The set up was adorable and comfortable. Our waitress was attentive and sweet. We had the Cajun dry rub wings that were fantastic. Also the chicken with the crab cakes. Mmm! Definately suggest this place.

Terrible experience. Have been here in the past and food was good, but last night it was horrible. My fish dish was over salted and spiced to the point where it was not eatable. Another person's crab cakes were cooked the same. I understand that the restaurant has lost its chef and its evident. Will not return.
Blah- Best part of the dinner was the side salad. Crab dip was good as a side but over priced. Fish was filled with bones and the baked potato well they only had small ones so they gave me two- tasted like they were cooked in a microwave. It’s chicken breast Chesapeake chicken was bland. Jut average.
Had dinner here on a Tuesday evening. My wife had a Caesar salad and lemon broiled salmon. It was excellent. I had the crab bisque soup, which was very ordinary, and the "jumbo lump" crab cakes. The crab cakes were very disappointing. There was no jumbo lump crab and very little crab meat in total. And not much in the way of spices to distract you from the lack of crab meat. If jumbo lump crab is too expensive to be used and keep your menu prices reasonable I understand. But do not lie to me about what you are planning to serve me. Our server did a nice job. Weighing the good and the less than good, the University Grill is average. But do not waste your money on the crab cakes.

The University Grill which is inside the Clarion Hotel was wonderful. Just like the hotel lobby, one is surrounded by pictures of university presidents and rows of books. It's a very interesting setting. Our waiter was efficient and so pleasant and our food was spectactular. Their outdoor seating looks very inviting and has heaters, though we opted to eat inside. I would definitely recommend staying at the Clarion and steeping right through to eat at the University Grill. It’s a class act all around!
Really nice place, REALLY good food and great service. Live music outdoors when we went in Aug 2021. Can't wait to go back!!
Ordered wings on wing night, they got two of the flavors correct. Three of the orders were to be crispy and none were. Soggy sweet potato fries, also. Not great food, overall.
Located on E. King St in Shippensburg, the University Grille was recommended by friends, it did not disappoint. The ambiance, whether dining indoors or outdoors as well as the service was very friendly and inviting. The menu selection was very good, something for everyone. The prices are also very reasonable.
We stayed 1 night at the attached hotel during the week. We had a very good dinner at this restaurant. We chose to eat inside-but there is an excellent outside dining area. For dinner we enjoyed the Crab Cake Sandwich, and the Prime Rib Panini. Both were very good. We would return if we stayed at this hotel in the future.
