Came here for Easter Brunch. Very disappointed. Had three orders of French Toast and all had an off taste like they had been cooked alongside onions and peppers. One order had a long hair between the slices.Very few people here, but service was very slow. Took quite a while to get our food.Probably won't be back.

Ate lunch on back patio. Ordered Caesar Salad and Side of Asparagus. Both were very fresh and delicious. Server checked back often.

We went there on Saturday March 2, 2024.We sat at a high top table, waitress took 15 min. Place order for appetizer(hot spicy shrimp). they delieved the food to our table, still no silware or plates, no water, there was nothing. we ask the food person for utensils, he said no problem. We waited about 7 minutes, when waitress came back to the table with the utensils we ask if we could place our order. No problem, my water glass was sitting there empty and my friend ice tea was empty also. We flagged down another waitress and she was delightfull to work with, after 1 hr our food arrived, short rib were ok and my parmesan chicken was chicken with a bland sauce. Again we had to flag down someone to get our bill, along with a few others couples. Always busy only because it takes forever for the food to be served.

When we go to Shippensburg for a show at the Luhr's PAC we love to go to the University Grille. It has a neighborhood "vibe" with many locals enjoying time together. The food is good and the drinks and food reasonably priced. Our server Aiden was very helpful and attentive as he shard his and the Pubs favorites. We will always go to UG when back in town of my College days!

I took my mother here expecting to treat her to a fine dining experience, as used to be offered by the old Shippen Place restaurant that used to be in this building. Be advised that Shippen Place is long gone. Gone are the tablecloths and set places with crystal glasses, and quiet ambience. University Grille is (as the name suggests) a student hangout. Bare wood tables and boisterous atmosphere. The first table we were seated at was next to a large group of standing, yelling, partying students. We could not hear each other. We asked to be moved, and the second table was a little more quiet. We both had the fried oyster appetizer, and the house salad. Both were very good. The service was also good.

My wife and I came here for Valentine's Day, after I made reservations for 6PM. We got here at 6 and the hostess sat us down. As she was seating she told us our waiter would be 5 minutes as he was putting in orders. Ok that's fine. Fast forward 20 minutes and we have yet to see our waiter. I get up to ask the hostess how long it might be and she says she'll ask our waiter. I consider myself a patient man, so I said "that would be much appreciated". I sit back down and wait for another 10 minutes. At 6:30 an older couple sits down at the table to the right of us. Within 2 minutes of them sitting, the hostess brings out a basket of bread for them and say "sorry for the wait, here's some complementary bread". That ticked me off more than anything. I even locked eyes with this girl at least 5 times, so I know that she KNOWS we haven't been helped. Shortly after a waitress comes out and asks them what they would like. This establishment shows absolute disrespect and a complete disregard of me and my wife's time. I wish I could comment on the food but we left after waiting for 45 minutes to be waited upon. We ended up going to the taco place "Monterrey Tacos" across the street and had a fabulous meal with quick/kind service. We will not be coming back to University Grille.

If you are okay about poor service, long wait times, substandard food quality, wasting your money then this is the place for you . All the food we had was undercooked , cold and salad not fresh . Best to go eat elsewhere. No one in our party of 8 will ever return to University Grille . Quick to give our check though !

Had a great burger here, my wife enjoyed her sandwich as well. The service was excellent and enjoyed the classic rock playing.Parking: There is a lot in the rear of the restaurant for parking, we realized this after parking along the street.

Avoid this place at all costs!! We had reservations at 6 PM we were served water at 6:10 PM - we gave our orders . At 7 PM I had to go to the front desk to ask where is our food . Finally had the horrible chicken dip with chips . The chicken is diced and can’t find it We ate it because we were hungry. Our main meal came at 8:10 PM . Caesar salad was old - not fresh . Horrible service and long wait . Has diarrhea the next day from their food . Will NOT recommend University Grill . Overpriced and horrible service . We Will NOT be returning to this restaurant . We gave it a second chance and their service and food is worse than before . The other patrons next to us also complained the same issues . They are severely understaffed !!!

Waited over 1hr for limited menu Sunday brunch. Only 3 sets of customers in the restaurant and over hr wait for French toast and egg dish. Over priced, waitress never checked on us, never refilled drinks and we will not be back.

Well, here's the good news in the bad news, this is my third attempt at eating a meal at University grill. First. The good news, the bartender is excellent. The servers are great. The clam chowder is excellent. That's where it stops every time I have had a meal there. It has been awful this last time. I ordered the fish sandwich battered. When it got to me the batter was soggy and the fish was falling apart in the sandwich. The taste was awful. Not sure I'll go back. You know the old saying three strikes and you're out!

It's only gotten worse with new ownership. $42 for a ribeye that wasn't in the menu...that had no flavor. Apparently they were out of prime rib, and the waitress said the steak was available. Burger was terrible. Tasted like it was pulled from the freezer before it hit the flat top. Same with the fries. Kids pizza...yeah. I've seen better quality out of the frozen section. It's an unfortunate trend in Shippensburg. Restaurants start out great, but eventually become terrible. Within time, they close up. Or, they get bad reviews and do nothing to improve with the same end result. Maybe someday the new owners will actually care about this place enough to make it THE place to go in town. I'm Not holding my breath though.

My family and I went and it was not very busy. We were seated and then we sat there for 20 minutes with not so much as a glance at us no one came to take our drink order or anything. So we got up and left. On our way out we passed someone and they asked if we were leaving. That was the first time we were spoken to since we arrived. Most likely will not go back. I could understand if they were crazy busy. But that was not the case.
