We greatly enjoyed all of the whiskey, the gin was good, also enjoyed the rum. Made sure to bring things home. The spiced maple was amazing.
Our chiropractor in Pgh told us to stop by if we were in the Somerset area. We were, and we did. The drinks, the venue, the service - all are wonderful. Do your yourself a favor and check it out!
Awesome distillery in Somerset PA. Their Westsylvania Rye Whiskey is to die for!!
Their Rye is actually grown locally and milled here in house. Beautiful facility with a friendly staff. We were able to get a glimpse behind the scenes. Very nice modern facility. Didn't taste anything I wouldn't happily buy. We were there for their 1st Anniversary and had an amazing time!! We bought 6 assorted bottles home with us. Can't wait to return again!
Best distillery tour I’ve ever done. Informative, fun, and several tasty samples. I can’t speak for all the cocktails but they looked well made and the old fashioned was superb. Wonderful service too.
Never been here before until I came for an event a friend was having. Everything was fine until the owners doodle dog came in and started eating all the food on her table. Super unsanitary, and she didn't even get an apology.
A Doodle ate my cupcake here…… not cool!
I just attended an event there and a random dog came in and started eating and licking the food on the table. It took quite a while for them to take action, and apparently it was the owners dog. I love dogs, but it was so unsanitary and unprofessional to have a dog wandering about without a leash. This remains unaddressed by the company. Very disappointing. I wonder how the health department would feel about this?
I’m not a huge rye whiskey drinker (usually prefer bourbons), but I might rethink that now! We booked a free tour at Ponfeigh, and my husband and I learned a lot about Pennsylvanias history with whiskey and rye whiskey itself. We had a few samples on the tour and a great old fashioned. We picked up a couple bottles to go too! I definitely recommend a visit!
Ponfeigh Distillery we bought advanced tickets to tonight's ticketed event. Let me tell you what a disappointment it was to show up and not have tickets checked and people coming in right after and not have tickets at all. If youre going to have a paid ticketed even please check or refund those who bought. The bands started well after the time advertised. There was no structure or enforcement of this event meaning total chaos and a massive shitshow. To those of us who follow the rules it was a disappointment and let down to say the least. To know those who follow protocol and have a sense of principle it was a kick in the face. Drinks between bartenders was hit or miss no consistency at all. Bands when they played were decent at least. If you've read this far thank you but heed my warning do not buy tickets in advance just show up and lie like ive seen many do and say youre there for 1 or 2 drinks and your golden.
Ponfeigh Distillery is a hidden gem tucked into the whiskey-rich hills of Somerset, Pennsylvania—a place where history, heritage, and exceptional craftsmanship meet in every pour. From the moment you step onto the property, you’re not just visiting a distillery—you’re stepping into a story. The folks at Ponfeigh have revived the bold spirit of Monongahela Rye, crafting whiskey that pays homage to Pennsylvania’s proud roots in American distilling. Their Westsylvania Cask Strength Rye is an absolute powerhouse—layered with spice, dark fruit, and caramel, and finished with a hug that reminds you why rye ruled these mountains long before Kentucky took center stage. Every sip feels like a tribute to the old coal camps and hunting cabins that once dotted these ridges. The tasting room is warm and welcoming, and the team behind the bar knows their whiskey. Whether you’re a seasoned sipper or just getting started, they’ll guide you through each expression with knowledge and heart. And let’s talk about the space: the 20,000 sq. ft. facility includes not just whiskey, but an amphitheater, museum, and event space that ties everything back to the community. Ponfeigh isn’t just making great whiskey—they’re building a legacy. If you’re a lover of American whiskey, especially bold, unapologetic rye, this is a stop you must make. Raise a glass to the past, sip on the future. 🥃🇺🇸 Cheers from Big Chief at The Whiskey Trip

finest rye whiskey from the original center of US rye production historically! thanks for bringing back the heritage to PA. get the word out and make Somerset the summer destination for whiskey tourism.
I reached out to Ponfeigh last month to organize a small group event with some friends, to coincide with the Micro Wrestling event they held last night. The owner, Max, and their event coordinator, Lindsey, went above and beyond to accommodate our group. We had such a great time and I would recommend Ponfeigh to anyone planning an event or just for the tours/tastings/drinks. The bar menu featured some great local beers and everything they offer from the distillery was top tier. I would highly recommend Ponfeigh
We have been following Ponfeigh since it was just a thought in Maximilian's mind! We were one of the first people to walk inside and get a tour and a taste of the Rye Whiskey! We met his pup Rye on this tour! This was before the construction of the place was barely started! We were not whiskey drinkers....but after that first taste of Ponfeigh's Rye Whiskey, we were hooked! I won't tell you how many bottles of the Cask Rye we've purchased! let's just say a lot!! We also were there for their grand opening and many times after! We love their whiskey, rum and gin and would recommend anyone and everyone to stop in and be wowed, just as we were!!
Ponfeigh is a nice spot to hang out, especially during warmer months when the doors lift to extend the bar outside. They do a fantastic job of having an assortment of entertainment, with my favorite being the line dance classes! Lindsay is great at the bar: efficient, friendly, and always pleasant.
If they don't have a food truck that night, you're welcome to bring your own food or get delivery.
There are always new weekly drink specials to try something different, or you can choose from their standard cocktail menu or wine/beer/seltzer list. My only complaint is that their slushies are only available during the warm months... but they're seriously, by far, the best alcoholic slushies I've had anywhere!
Note for handicap: There are not any stairs. Everything is one level and spacious.
Great single barrel, welcoming space for a cocktail.
