Really good food and friendly service

This was one of the best Italian meals in Philadelphia. The service was excellent the fried gnocchi with burrata was one of the best pasta dishes ever. The waiter recommended it with a Chicken Cutlet and it was truly amazing. The Cesar salad was delicious and the fresh garlic bread was a nice touch too.

The place had a cool vibe, and service was very good. The bread was fine, but kinda small. Sure, we coulda asked for some more, but we just… didn’t? The vodka sauce pasta was quite cheesy, innit bruv? I’ll waddle my trousers ‘ere some day a-gain mate.

We come to Il Giardino’s Italian Restaurant once in a while for a quick easy meal, and I have never written a review for any business before but the experience in takeout and dine in has gone downhill enough that I felt like I should say something to try to save this cute little place.

one big issue is the service. It feels really lazy and inattentive. Servers seem distracted, don’t come to the table unless to take the order or drop the bill, and simple things like drink refills or checking in just don’t happen unless you flag someone down. They’re older regulars seem to get most the attention i guess they do that so they have some consistency of clients. lately it feels like nobody really cares and it’s very in it for the money.

The food has also been disappointing. Obviously I don’t expect much from a small local byob but a lot of it tastes like it’s frozen store bought or pre prepared rather than freshly made. Chicken dishes especially seem like they’re just heated up with some sauce, melted cheese and a side of overcooked or undercooked pasta just sent strait out. The pizza is probably the best thing on the menu, but even that is really sloppy most of the time. too many toppings for the thin crust, sliding everywhere, and just messy overall.

It’s frustrating because this place could easily be a solid neighborhood spot, but between the poor service and food that tastes like it came out of a freezer, it’s hard to justify if they even care to change. Hopefully they improve things, because right now it just doesn’t live up to what it should be.

I ordered the fettuccini special with Brandy infused shrimp . The shrimp were small , some still has shell on and were overcooked and tasteless . The pasta was also bland ,.very disappointed as we have come here many times before and had wonderful food .

IF YOU GO HERE BRING A BUCKET. Ordered a peppers and onions pizza with a calzone. First time I’ve ever seen a calzone without the sauce in it. They probably forgot to put it in and just put it on the side greasy mess. The vegetables on the pizza looked like they were already ravaged off someone else’s plate. I also ordered the calamari which smelled horrible. THANKS IL GIORDANO FOR THIS EXPERIENCE.

Food is always good, but I was charged $15 for a $12.49 sandwich.
