Love Doggie’s 99% of the time. But I don’t like when bartenders double charge our card and then give us a hard time about not tipping (we budgeted a certain amount of money for the night, and couldn’t tip or uber home because she used all of the money). Then when we ask about the double charge we’re brushed off. I don’t know if was accidental or on purpose but it does make me question the sort of people Doggie’s is hiring.

Walk on egg shells in this place on any busy weekend. State Patty’s is an extremely busy holiday but even if you are pushed by another person in the bar you’ll be asked to leave, such as what happened to me last night after appearing “visibly intoxicated” and had to fight to close my tab. Not to mention paying $25 for line leap only to be in the joint for less than 30 minutes. Power trip bouncers and not a manager to be found.

Yup, definitely a college bar with college things but a great place to grab a drink or four.

During my time at Penn State in the early 80s, this bar was a favorite haunt of mine. Fast forward to the present, it's under new ownership and sports a fresh name. However, the changes are a welcome sight. The bar and seating areas have undergone significant upgrades, enhancing the overall ambiance. I was genuinely impressed by the quality of the renovations. Despite its consistent crowd, the service remains top-notch - the staff is exceptional at managing the bustle without long wait times. It's heartening to see that while the bar has evolved, it still honors its storied tradition.

Great service, friendly staff and they have the best pizza in town!

One of the two best bars in downtown State College Pennsylvania now! Particularly when it is nice out the outdoor area is amazing but they do a great job even during the cold weather having a tent and it still has the old Vibe of The Rathskeller

So this place used to be The Rat Skellar. They had live entertainment and about 12 - 15 people. The staff were rude, the pizza there was decent but you had to get it yourself.Good thing is Dogs are welcome.

Of all the bars I've gotten kicked out of in State College for being the jerk that I can become when I'm drunk sometimes, this is the only one I miss going

Fun lil place! The water spritzers in the heat aren’t for Everyone, but I found them refreshing

Fun college atmosphere with indoor and outdoor space. There's picnic tables, metal small tables plus wood benches around the cornhole, pizza station and outdoor bar. Lots of fun in great weather and the pizza is good. Not NJ/NY pizza good but Pennsylvania good. Inside it is dark with some limited tables and lots of standing room so I'm sure it's packed during peak periods in the colder weather. This was move in weekend and parents were there drinking to the new year!

Staff here needs some serious training. A member of my party was kicked out for gathering enough chairs for us to sit on. No explanation, no warning. We all left. There are plenty of other establishments in state college that we can happily support with our alumni dollars.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. What is with the “security” that is employed by this place? Minutes after my friends and I arrived, we were abruptly all kicked out because 1 of us went to get 1 extra chair for our table so that we could all have somewhere to sit, 1 stinkin’ chair!!!! Are you kidding me?! All of us were kicked out for that?! What is happening here and what did you do with the good ole Rathskeller?! Needless to say we will not be returning and will be be sure to tell all of our alumni friends and family!

I’m 40 years old and got kicked out for grabbing a chair that was 3ft away from a “roped” off area. Myself and 8 other alums left. We won’t bring our money back and we will absolutely make sure no one else will. I grew up here. Sad to see places like doggies rip the character and soul from my hometown. Save your money. I’ve spoken with people around town and after reading other comments, it’s blatantly obvious that ageism is alive and well at “doggies”
