Great experience, spacious, well appointed, clean, great service and great food. Will definitely return next time we visit Penn State.
Went here last month and had such a relaxing evening! Our waiter was so nice and genuinely enthusiastic, which made it even better. The place is much bigger than it looks from the outside, and the walls are lined with really sophisticated, historic artwork. Everything we ordered was high quality, but the highlights were definitely the Papas Bravas for an appetizer and the Bolognese for an entrée - seriously delicious. The layout was a little quirky since it felt like we were sitting across from the other table more than each other, but it didn’t ruin the vibe at all. Overall, this restaurant is great for a nice night out.
Veggie burger was offensively bad. Practically turned to mash potatoes when you bite into it. A frozen patty from Walmart would have been better.
Service was good but nothing special, and the atmosphere was what you'd expect.

Excellent Experience my boyfriend and I visited here to celebrate my birthday this evening. Staff was very friendly, Adam Did a great job, very attentive took care of us promptly. Drinks were perfect, Rolls incredible, bacon wrapped scallops melted in our mouths. Both the pork shank and bolognese were incredible. will 100% spend the penny for the incredible service and food

Overall, I would give the food to B- We enjoyed our company. The hostess was very polite and kind. However, the manager could not have been ruder and her behavior and lack of hospitality is reason enough to never dine in there again!
Food was great.

We had reservations to be seated outside when we arrived. We had a little Maltese with us and the manager said we cannot see you because borough of State College rules for big dogs. Actual borrow policy does not allow dogs inside a restaurant, but it allows it outside. The manager flatly lied and when confronted She tried to explain that the alleyway and outdoor seating is considered indoors which is a ridiculous lie. I found it outrageous that the manager use excuse excuses and blame it on borrow rules were in reality. It is her own rule that she did not want us to have seated outdoors. We frequently eat at this restaurant, but this will be the last time we ever visited.

Start to finish, our visit was a delight. The hostess was very accommodating, the waitstaff were perfect, and the food was delicious. If you make it to dessert, treat yourself to the lemon cream cake — perfection. We live several states away, and we plan to return!

We tailgated there last weekend. The Tavern has a great selection of beer and wine. For wine we went with Leaping Stag and beer New Trail. The crab and tuna appetizer were delicious. The table then had the pork shank, wagyu burger, tuna salad and the beat salad was fantastic! We had a wonderful time!

We had a great dinner on their upstairs patio. We had a super salad and a spinach salad with chicken. Kylie was a great server.

Pretentious and highbrow for very little reason. Food was alright but overpriced. 20 dollar salad with $2.00 produce- lettuce and a few beets. 35 dollar charcuterie board with one cheese. Had to ask for rolls. Miss the the old owners. What a disappointment.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I made reservations here for my boyfriend and his family for his graduation under the assumption that it would be a quality meal with good service. The reviews were wonderful and the photos of the food looked great. Unfortunately, the service was mediocre and the food was even worse. The prices hardly reflected the quality of food you will receive here. The lamp chops were dry and the salad lettuce was warm and limp. The salmon tasted like walmart, farm- raised slop that I could've made better in an air fryer.
The worst part of the night was that the $60 filets gave half of our dinner party horrible food poisoning that resulted in a disastrous and ruined night that should've consisted of continued celebration. Due to the size of our party, we had to pay an automatic gratuity on a $400 meal that almost led to a hospital visit. Please rethink your dinner options before entering this dressed up dump.
