We tried a wide variety of the food. Everything was great. Cool Twin Peaks vibe. Dark and mysterious atmosphere great for a date night.

You can tell from the minute you peek in the window that this place has a cool vibe. Wooden, austere atmosphere with nicely spaced candled tables. Very interesting menu, we shared apps: broccolini, artichokes and scallop hushpuppies. All three were delicious. Had a tasty Jeremy burger cooked to perfection. The amazing (and huge) salted gingerbread dessert was worth fighting over. The drink list is a lot of fun, too. The ‘old fashioned gin’ was superb, and my friends liked their wine, nice selection. Angela was our waitstaff and could not have been nicer or more attentive. Hemlock House brings a really nice vibe and great food/drink to the east end!

We just finished a wonderful meal. The ginger bread dessert was out of this world, and I’m not usually a dessert person. The cocktails were also fantastic. Our server Clara was very kind and fun, and very patient and helpful with our many questions. Already looking forward to coming back!

We enjoyed our first time to Hemlock House! Cocktail and dessert was really strong, so glad our lovely server, Clara recommended the Gingerbread. It was divine. French onion soup was another standout, and the pasta.

Hemlock House is such a hidden gem! I'd never heard of it before but stumbled upon it, and found the food to be delicious and the atmosphere and service to be incredible! I got the Green impossible burger and it was the best burger I've ever had. Just go try it, you won't regret it.

This is THE hidden gem of Pittsburgh.
The food was unbelievable, the vegetarian options are top tier as well. I think the gingerbread was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had - and I never expected it. The French onion, burgers, fries - everything was incredible.
The place’s vibe is “Peaks” for Pittsburgh, loved the entire decor of the place. The service was amazing too.

We love dining at this local spot. Cozy atmosphere with creative food. It's always a delightful experience. Great cocktails as well.
I like the poke bowl, hush puppies, broccolini. Duck burger is also neat. My toddler loves the mac and cheese. My partner chooses a variety of different dishes. The deserts are great as well!

First time visit and we weren't disappointed. Hemlock House is small, so I would recommend reservations. Menu has different options than your typical place. They have a duck burger that is very popular. We had the Mac and cheese, watermelon and feta salad, and the Jeremy burger. Everything was delicious! You absolutely have to try the gingerbread for dessert, it is too die for! It is warm, has caramel sauce and fresh whipped cream with orange zest...amazing!!

Great local spot for drinks and food! Really loved their cocktail menu. The gin drinks were outstanding! Had the hush puppies and the table ate every last bite. I had the poke bowl while the rest of the folks had the burgers. The bowl was very fresh and filling! Our server suggested the gingerbread cake for dessert. We hemmed and haughed then we went with her suggestion. Hands down the best dessert in Pittsburgh! We are still talking about that warm gingerbread cake with the caramel sauce. I just want to get a cocktail and a slice of the gingerbread cake and call it a day! Can't wait to go back! They also have a gluten-free menu which I thought was really great!

Went on multiple occasions for both food and drinks. Such a unique atmosphere with attentive servers, delicious food, and strong drinks.
Very nice spot for a nice meal. The place itself has a great atmosphere, just a tad upscale but not anywhere near snobby. The food is good quality, although sometimes a bit expensive. I got to try the fried smelts and the It’s Green burger.
Both were really good. It’s rare to find fried smelts anywhere in the area (last time I had them was in Spain). But here, they do a very nice job of making them. A good amount of lemon provided, relatively crispy battering, and fresh fish that doesn’t taste too fishy. They also had a pretty flavorful sauce with it (possibly tartar but I’m not sure).
The burger was also great. They cooked it perfectly for my liking. The green sauce wasn’t too spicy and overall the burger just tasted balanced. The fires it was served with were also wonderful: quite crispy and salty.
All in all, well done to this place. It’s a nice atmosphere and they serve great food. Would recommend.
