This is my first time leaving a review for any dining establishment. My wife and myself had dinner for the first and last time at Fairview Cafe this evening. The facility is quaint and the large gas fireplace that we were seated next to, was beautiful and welcoming. Unfortunately, it wasn’t operating although the outside temperature was in the low 40’s and there apparently no other source of heat besides a small infrared unit. You could have hung meat in the dining area. I ordered the salmon, which without exaggeration was no wider than 3/4” and no thicker and was over cooked to the point of being dry. The dinner came with a scoop of rice that appeared to have been plated with a Mellon baller and the meal also came with a few shriveled up green beans. My wife had a seafood pasta dish. The seafood consisted of a few shrimp that were the size that you get in small cans at a supermarket, referred to as microshrimp. Such a disappointing experience for over priced and not good meals. I would never recommend this facility to anyone I liked.
Love this place chef has excellent food every meal is special. Don’t forget BYOB
All items on menu are my favorite🍽️
My husband took me there for Mother’s Day 2025. We ordered the pecan Brie appetizer and it was an unrecognizable mess. Soupy, globs of something, GROSS. They served this with rosemary flavored crackers which didn’t go at all with it. Tasted odd. We both had the cowboy ribeye steaks. It was 1/4 inch thick, flavorless and so tough I could hardly cut it with a knife. Blob of cold mashed potatoes and hard and cold green beans. Yuck. One of the WORST meals I’ve ever had at a restaurant.
Beautiful place with great ambience and service.
Service is excellent as are the meals.. The building and atmosphere is almost magical - beautuful exterior and interior. In warmer weather outside seating is available under a covered patio area. Inside a four-sided field stone fireplace is the centerpiece of the dining area and extends to the ceiling 20 or more feet above. The peak of the fireplace is surrounded by glass paned windows. Have been eating there for quite a few years and we were never diappointed. There is no liquor license to my knowledge as they have a BYOB policy. Definitely think you will enjoy the experience as we have.
The only good thing about our dining experience was the service. First off the building was absolutely freezing. The food was terrible. The steaks were paper thin and charcoaled. The dessert was terrible. It was dry as could be. This was a Saturday night and there were only two other people in the place with us. Save your money and go elsewhere!
Valentine's dinner, walked into chaos our reservations were at 7:00 what we were not seed until 8:00, even after multiple other cpls left. We sat for 20 minutes being ignored by staff, I had to ask somebody for water. Food was horrific. Appetizer was three prawns on a plate nothing else no seasoning, no lemon, not even on a piece of kale literally three shrimp on a plate. Main dish with a lobster overcooked dried out, I think it was freezer burned, again came with nothing no lemon no butter. Server kept asking us if we wanted to take our dessert home or stay for dessert, making me feel like I was being pushed out. It seemed like it was the staff's first day, and I was kind of embarrassed for them. Realized that this restaurant is also owned by the people who own The boathouse which was another horrible experience, with employees who had no idea what they were doing, and acting like being there was a problem. I felt like I was robbed of my night out, and a theft had occurred when we got the bill, and mind you this is a BYOB restaurant. Will NEVER go their again
We have been here before and was exceptional. Unfortunately Valentine’s Day 2025 was terrible. Reservations for 630. Multiple people waiting. We were not seated until 830. Understaffed and ridiculously expensive. They should be ashamed. Will never go there again. We brought a couple that have never been there before and we’re so embarrassed with everything I know!
Wish we could have been able to make a positive review but they screwed up so badly with their Valentine’s Day prefix menu event that they couldn’t even honor their reservations. Absolutely PATHETIC. Ruin your holiday plans. We’ll never return and we’ll make sure everyone we know knows it.
Great place 👌

We went with friends for NYE. The server was wonderful, but the food was barely edible. We were told the Filet Mignon could only be cooked to.medium rare, no exceptions. The steak arrived bloody and cold in the middle. Mashed potatoes cold, green beans barely cooked. Crab cake appetizer ice cold and only flavor was from sauce.
It is a shame as the building is beautiful, but that's about it.
The best place to eat in the area hands down. Don't miss it!!!
We went for new years eve last night/ for our 2 year anniversary and it was absolutely terrible.. Our dinner reservation was at 5:45 and we did not get our meal until 7:45-- 2 hours later!!! I don't blame the servers THEY ONLY HAD 2 WAITRESSES WORKING WITH A FULL RESTAURANT.. SHAME ON THE OWNERS!! they should of been there helping these poor girls while they hustled. we will not be going back and will not be recommending this to anyone. We Drove an hour out of our way to be completely disappointed.
We left after an hour past our 7:30 reservation because we had not been seated yet. People with a 6:30 reservation were still waiting for their food at 8:30. Sorely under staffed in the kitchen and wait/bus staff.
We were there for a private party on a day that the restaurant was closed to the public. I don't think this fact would change my ratings - l definitely intend to return.
