You must call in your order for pick-up. The man and woman running the place are very nice. Pizza, no matter the toppings, is $8. It's a lot larger than one would think. It was better fresh and hot than later once the cheese cooled. I've never had a sauce like this, it's very sweet. I can't wait to get another pizza from here.

I’ve been eating this pizza since I was young kid. It has undergone virtually no changes over several decades. It will be forever my favorite food until the day I die (unless the recipe changes). It’s a sweet sauce, the dough composition is very unique, and the cheese has a secret taste and density to it. The single size (medium-ish) pizza is all they sell but toppings do not cost extra. I used to only eat plain because it’s almost too good to put toppings on. It’s inexpensive ($8), pick up only, it’s hidden in a residential basement, and hours of operation are limited. I eat a lot of pizza, many different pizzas, and none enhance my mood more than Mary Jo’s.
This place is a hidden gem. One of the best pies in the city. Crust is on the thinner side.

I grew up in NEPA and just moved here. I searched for a pizza shop near me and saw all the great reviews so, I bought a sausage pie and a mushroom pie. Both pies were terrible! It was like I ordered pizza from a high school Home Ec. class! The crust was kind of ok but, the cheese had a funny taste and the sausage pie was too salty. The sauce tasted like it came from an Aldi’s brand can. Maybe I’m spoiled because of growing up in the W-B/Scranton area and having top tier pizza any time I wanted?! Not sure but this area is depressed of quality pizza. JMHO
