We had Off The Rails cater our wedding last weekend and everything was perfect! All of our guests said it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had. Their mac and cheese is out of this world and our guests were raving about the pulled chicken all night! I would absolutely recommend their catering services for any event. The staff at OTR were all so helpful and the catering team was great. I’m so glad we chose them for our wedding. Can’t wait to go back! 🥳

Food was great but service was non-existent! If people come in that don't realize you need to order at the counter, maybe tell them?

Didn't get to try the food. Came here at 5:45 before the band even started, sat down and tried to scan the QR code on the table. But it didn't work. I asked someone if I should use the code and they laughed, so then I stood in line to order. There was no bbq left. The band hadn't started, the front area was a mess of folks waiting for pickup or something, and everything was sold out. I normally wouldn't leave a review in such a circumstance, but it took too darn long to figure out what was happening and the bar codes/app makes no sense because you can't order that way. It was an exhausting experience and wasted so much time.

Outdoor seating right on the side of busy road, air quality is prob not ideal

Basically, it was boomers from wall to wall that had apparently gotten there at some absurdly early time and eaten all the food and then were gonna hang around for the band after they ate? I was confused. Just like how the boomers buy all the nice starter homes in Pittsburgh, they apparently eat all the BBQ in Verona before most even think about eating dinner. The crowd was senior and generally unfriendly (got weird looks trying to find a table, no one offered help with questions about how to order, etc).

One of the worst experiences I've had trying a new place.

Drove a fairly long distance to get here. Ended up finding Acclamation Brewing around the block and they were happy to accommodate.

For me it was worth the wait to dine with my and his partner. I had the 1/2 rack of ribs, which was the special, Rachel had the pull brisket BBQ sandwich and Patrick had the loaded brisket fries. Prices a compatible with other restaurants. They had a choice of 3 sauces. Ala carte type of menu. I definitely recommend going here for fantastic BBQ.

Had the meat sampler, Mac n cheese, beans, and corn bread. Everything was excellent. Live music added to the atmosphere. Great time!

Always a great time at Off the Rails. Best barbecue around the Pittsburgh area. Usually have live music to create a cool atmosphere with a firepit on cool nights. Food comes out quick and is delicious. Service is top notch with some of the best bartenders. Highly recommend to all my friends and family and anyone else in the neighborhood. Worth it! Trust me!

This place is absolutely horrible we ordered food and half was missing and what we did get tasted so bad we didn't even want what was missing. Granted after a review they fully refunded us but I wouldn't feed their scraps to dogs absolutely horrible would give zero stars if possible

What Happened to the BBQ I Once Loved?
I used to tell everyone Off The Rails had the best brisket east of Texas. I’ve been a loyal customer for years. But sadly, over the past year, things have gone way downhill — from the food, to the service, to the cleanliness and overall experience.
I’ve gotten slightly sick after dining here multiple times recently. One time it was just stomach discomfort. Another, nausea all night. But after my most recent visit, I was violently ill — cold chills, extreme stomach distress, and a completely sleepless night. I’ll spare the graphic details, but it was rough. After looking up their March 2025 health inspection rating, I was no longer surprised.
Despite these issues, I’ve tried to give the place the benefit of the doubt. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry. I know it’s hard work. But it’s hard to ignore the robotic, impersonal service, the disengaged bartenders, and the fact that no one even smiles or says thank you anymore.
Still, I kept coming back because the BBQ used to be worth it. Not anymore.
Last night was it for me. The place was crowded, our order was incorrect, and the whole experience just felt off. I stayed because I was meeting some great people, but I regretted it by the end of the night. I got sick again.
I called twice today before reaching the front end manager- not to ask for a refund — just to voice a concern that I’d gotten ill the last several times I ate there. After finally reaching the front-end manager, I was told it was probably “just my body” and blamed it on the two drinks I had last night over a 4 hour period of time,(1 drink each other times I got sick). I also asked if they use a tonic water dispenser, since that could be a factor — and was told they use bottled tonic. Again, I was told there had been no other complaints, so it must just be me.Also I was told I drank too much alcohol. Really did you see me. I have my receipt! Zero concern. Not even a basic “I'm sorry you experienced that.”
It’s sad, honestly. This place used to be a gem. But now it feels neglected — in food quality, health standards, and customer service. I’m done.
Diner beware.Wow look at what the owner said. Did I leave a good review when I liked us? No, however to show my support for the business, I had brought many new diners there over the years which will no longer happen. Why so snarky with me and apologies to others.Still again no apology just sarcasm. No wonder you had to start doing coupons this year. And is this really the owner or an employee. I see other reviews have an apology.

There shortly after opening and they did not have menu items available, 20 min wait or more. Had to change my order. Buns for sandwiches are not good, found a piece of bone in my pulled pork, sweet tea was worst I ever had, whole place seems to have to share 2 large bottles of bbq sauce, chips that come with sandwiches are a bag not even homemade and you have to go up and get your drinks from little section on the bar. For the price it is just not worth it at all.

Considering that they grow the chicken from scratch for every order, the 40-minute wait for pulled chicken with baked beans isn't so bad.
