I visited Markook restaurant today with my toddler and 18-month-old baby, along with their uncle, and we had a truly awful experience. Right from the start, we were met with rudeness from the staff. We were told, rather harshly, that we couldn’t eat there because the dining area was closed. Fair enough, we decided to order takeout instead and eat outside.
As we were placing our order and looking at the display, the kids started to walk around the queue rope. There was nothing within their reach except tables and chairs, and three adults were keeping a close eye on them. Out of nowhere, the chef/owner came up and shouted at us, telling the mom to control her kids! It was completely uncalled for, and we were all in shock at his hostility. The kids weren’t causing any trouble!
We opted not to engage with him, not out of respect for him, but for the two tables still dining who witnessed the whole scene. We quietly said thank you and decided to leave without ordering anything. This seemed to enrage him further, as he continued to shout at us while the rude lady joined in from the background. When we didn’t respond, he yelled even louder in Arabic, using inappropriate language he thought we wouldn’t understand. However, since their uncle speaks Arabic, he responded, only to hear the owner dismiss our family and insult our kids, calling them names for simply being kids.
It broke our hearts to hear such words directed at young kids. This restaurant clearly has a pattern of mistreating customers, as seen in other one-star reviews, and we can confirm every single word written in those complaints. Coming from a family with experience running successful restaurants in the USA, it’s disappointing to encounter such unprofessionalism in the service industry.
It’s hard to believe that in 2024, there are still people in the service industry making others' lives miserable. We left feeling heartbroken, and it’s safe to say we won’t be returning. This place deserves some serious reprimand for their behavior towards families and children.

This is the best Arabic food and the cleanest place I have had in ten states ! It is important to note that this is something between a restaurant and a deli ! You will order at the counter and eat in disposable cutlery but I have no complaints whatsoever ! We finished lunch and took our dinner home with us ! It was that good. You first choose between a wrap , a salad , or a platter , choose the protein you want , then choose the sides. The shawarma and the falafel were so so yummy! The eggplant Moutabbal (aka baba Gannouj was beyond yummy ). Tastes like home
Made food for real ! The lady at the cashier was super nice - the rest of the staff were grumpy. Read the menu and really try it . We cannot wait to go back although it is a two hour drive for us ! We sealed our meal with date and pistachio maamul ! Super yum ! I wish we were offered coffee or tea with that .

I just love the colors, freshness, and flavors of mediterranean cuisines. Simple, yet deliciously prepared dishes. Old-world taste, with a new-world feel. I just love the Beef Shawarma, and the spicy hummus is so smooth and savory. If you are looking for something fresh and unique next time your tummy rumbles, this place is your go-to restaurant. Advice; Ordering is cafeteria style. Menu reads right to left. Try the Baklava. ? perfect for lunch or early dinner.
